Topic: No more emoticons | |
---|---|
No one is sticking their tongue on my cheek!
it could be....if there are no emoticons in hand.
I put it to any of you to try and refrain from using them for one day. Just an experiment.
Ok.. tongue in the cheek and what in the hand?
Isn't this thread suppose to be about emotions? Oh.. you did say emotions.. I guess that does count |
Not for my sake.

But it's a valid topic, I think -- I know 5 or 6 people who absolutely REFUSE to use emoticons; to them, it's basically just a form of gutter language. And that's fine, everybody should be able to use the tools they like. To me, the important thing is getting the message across clearly; how you do it is an individual choice.
They don't bother me, and I do use them, but I wouldn't try to impose them on anybody else.... |

Thank you Lex.

See, the thing is, and what you don't know, is that most of us are here because we are addicted to emoticon use and have found no 12 Step program effective in dealing with our illness. I will try, as you have requested no, wait, let me try again.......really, I am serious, we should all make this a priority. I may need to call in sick Monday, but shock therapy might work.

hey Lex
Really Drew - I'm not trying to attack anyone. I was puzzled because I am not personally compelled to use them. So your sarcasm is slightly misplaced.
I wanted opinions, not attitude.

:) ;) :)) :D :P X-( :-O :-x :-\ :-| :"> :(
:-& :-* :'( this will work |
And some of us wanted the JSH right to use emoticons without being questioned or vaguely referred to as looking like idiots. So, what were you saying about opinions?

Longmont -- No problem. I think we need to be able to discuss this sort of thing here; discussion of site features and options is certainly just as valid as (if not MORE valid than) a lot of the other topics that show up on these forums! In my opinion, anyway. I would much rather talk about emoticons vs. no emoticons than have to read "Would you polish the bowling ball of the person above you?" for the 433rd time.
Joyce, we've been bumping into each other a lot tonight! -- now there's one I DO use quite a bit! |

yes Lex we have--- it's been nice

You have the right to use them, and to be grotesquely sarcastic whenever you want. I started a thread to hear opinions. And mine is that their usage diminishes communication with inane clutter. Its all fine. Everyone will do what they please.

i disagree- i do not think it diminishes communication.
a picture is worth a thousand words! it enhances communication. |
