For those people who believe you should not judge. When your teenage daughter come home and tells you she is pregnant or your teenage son has to take responsibility for another teen falling pregnant I believe you will regret your poor judgement in failing to judge them.

No, then you have failed as a parent in guiding them and making sure they're educated and know to use protection.
Parenting is not about judging, it's about teaching, educating and guiding your children, helping them become the best person they can be.

A good parent knows his/her child and sees when they're ready for sex and makes sure the child is prepared for that.
If you stick your head in the sand because you can't handle them having sex, you have failed them as a parent.
Then you blame the kid when they end up making babies? frustrated

I will not disagree with anything you say Crystal other than our interpretation of the word judgement. We judge when the time is right,we judge what is the appropriate advice,we judge the response,we judge whether our judgement is correct.Yes we can use words like assess, know, consider etc but in my opinion they all involve judgement.

I take it that is your judgement of my opinion then ???

I'm sure you are not judging me.

I dont agree with some answers as they r younger and its our duty to tell them the ryt path ...

waving Hi my friend.
I don't agree w/some answers either  But I do not think it is my duty to guild other people's children.

To me.. Culture is culture & Religion/Faith is Religion. Sometimes they are one in the same. Each person must answer to their God & to themselves.

We have a right to our opinions.
We don't have to like it or except it or even tolerate it...especially in our own life or world. If others don't like that...Oh well, they are then the intolerant & judgmental ones.

Unless...there is abuse of some kind, I stay out of it, & I expect & demand the same courtesy for my life.

Like most values and moral codes we can discuss them and hope it influences others but I think there is a point where the responsibility stays with the individual and their private condition is none of my business.

I see the choice of virginity in either sex as a ideal worth striving for not only because it is a precious gift to bestow on a treasured spouse but also because it forestalls a lot of issues that "young" and "inexperienced" people do not have to deal with if they do abstain.

That the responsibilities and hardships of unplanned sex fall on society and often parents, who I do not agree have necessarily failed as good counsel/parents if children choose to have sex because we collective influence the society. Can not tell children that being sexual is this wonderful thing in every form of media and conversation then expect them not to act on physical drives when left to their own devices. Sex and pregnancy has been so over glamourized I am surprised we have any credibility with our children which I consider the ages OP suggested are.

I don't consider saying that sex for children is bad as being judgmental as much as protection and being responsible to them and what is often the result their offspring. I had many talks with my children about "choices" and tried to impart all the consequences so they could make good ones for them.

All that said you never know all the results of having sex until you have. Some are wonderful some are not.

Hopefully if we instill the appropriate self worth and supervise impulsive children we can prevent the abdication of virginity but not all virginity is lost by choice on either side of the gender equation. So what seems like a radical value of it disturbs me. I think it is more important to value the person in the context that they live.

I was emancipated and making my own way in the world at 15 and I felt then, and I feel now, I had the right to choose my own path. I did not make anyone else pay for my choices. I am not sure that is the only critical factor in the equation but when we put upper middle class culture and religious mores on others who may be just as entitled to that right as I felt I was then I think k that is elitism and religious bigotry. I think if a 17 year old man is old enough to work or fight for his country who the heck am I to say he can't have sex with a willing partner. .
