Topic: COFFEEHOUSE CHAT FOR CHRISTIANS | |

Thank you Larry.
I saw very little of that left behind series - one day I shall get to it. I read way to many computer books - I need to make time for a change. On another note - any fans of Josh Groban - I just got his new CD - NOEL. It is really "awesome". :) |

Good morning folks, just got to the office and planning out my day.
Where would we be without our daily calendars and reminders? Last evening, I was taking a bath, the TV was on, even though I had not been interested in actually watching - suddenly I heard Drew Barrymore shout something like ".. I'm not paying that, it's only October". I have not idea what it was about but I was glad I heard it. It caused me to remember I need to take my car to get the sticker renewed by the end of this month! |

Good morning LTW -
We missed you too. Hope you had a good weekend. Yesterday was lovely up here in New England, sunny and warm enough to go out without a jacket. This morning it started off considerably cooler. Made me think of when I was living in the Gulf Coast of Florida. I only made it over to the east side once to visit the Kennedy Space Center. What's it like down where you are? |

Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray" (James 5:13)
The Mystery of Suffering Sufferings from illness, disease, accidents, or age are certainly among the most difficult burdens we face in life. Medical science can help of course, but in sickness we should look for spiritual support as well. Christians turn to Jesus Christ "And wherever he went- into villages, towns or countryside - they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed." ( Mk 6, 56 ) Not only did people come to Jesus to be healed, but Jesus went to them. "I will come and cure him," Christians today believe the Risen Christ still heals and blesses our world. He instructed his own disciples to heal the sick in his name, "So they went out...and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them." (Mk 6,12-13) Now the ministry of healing is given to every Christian and is a mark of the church. How is it accomplished today? In many different ways. • By prayer and the celebration of sacraments. • By caring for the sick as Jesus taught: "I was sick and you visited me." • By supporting all human efforts of medical and social research to conquer disease of every kind. • By working for a society where health care is available for everyone who needs it. More important than the curing of the body was his healing of the human spirit. "Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you,"Jesus says. Some he will cure, but he will refresh everyone. The most important grace given by Jesus, the healer, is to believe, to hope, to go on, in spite of everything. And so we come to him, seeking healing for our bodies, yes, but above all seeking the inner strength that Jesus promises to give |

I must say I have had a pretty pleasant day, and it's great to see the happy welcoming folks here.
I think most of us have had an opportunity to have seen a "little hell" in our lives. Time to enjoy, and have a "soft place" to land sometimes. Made me think, anyone who would like to offer their thoughts, what do you do at home to make your surroundings feel soothing, peaceful.. I have a lot of plants, in every room. It makes me feel like I have bought the outdoors, inside. |

Keep laughing
A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. —Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is vital in life. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart does good, like medicine." A happy heart affects our spirit and our physical health. But there is a deeper, abiding joy for those who trust the Lord that is based on much more than frivolity and circumstances. It is a joy based on God’s salvation. He has provided forgiveness of sin and a restored relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus. That gives us a deep joy which circumstances cannot shake (Ps. 126:2-3; Hab. 3:17-18; Phil. 4:7). Joy comes from the Lord who lives in us, not from what’s happening around us. |

Okay here Britty here is my joke for the evening...
If they throw tomotoes, we'll make soup.... HA HA HA ******** Jesus saw a crowd chasing down a woman to stone her and approached them. "What's going on here, anyway?" he asked. "This woman was found committing adultery, and the law says we should stone her!" one of the crowd responded. "Wait," yelled Jesus. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Suddenly, a stone was thrown from out of the sky, and knocked the woman on the side of her head. "Aw, c'mon, Dad..." Jesus cried, "I'm trying to make a point here!" HA HA HA HA I never let a day go by without laughing... usually it is at myself... so when I come across some material or a old friend sends me a joke, i have to share that laugh... |

Thessalonians: As Paul writes this letter to the Thessalonians, he gives many words of praise. Paul says he is “bound to thank God always…because that your faith grows exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other abounds;” (1:3). Paul says he boasts of them among other churches “for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:” (1:4). Paul continues that he has “confidence in the Lord touching you that you both do and will do the things which we command you” (3:4). |
