In response to things to ponder:

Why do you think God hates pride?

Satan was cast out of heaven because of pride (Isaiah 14:12-15). Because of his pride in himself he wanted to become as God.

Genesis 11:4 "They said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves...'"

Pride stops us from being able to accept Jesus and coming to the realization that we cannot be perfect in and of ourselves, we need God’s grace. It causes us to try to do things in our own strength and that leads to failure. It prevents us from being in a right relationship with God.

I see that kind of pride as being different from the emotion referring to a sense of self respect.

Can you think of a few potential disasters from which Christ saved you since your initial experience of salvation?

Over the years God has saved me from making wrong decisions, helped me out of what might have been bad situations, helped me overcome fears and has been faithful in times of need. I believe that we do not know that God is all we need until He is all we have got.

I would describe it as close and personal most of the time. He wants us to be in a relationship with Him and to know that He will guide us in the right direction.

Glory -
Great beauty and splendor
A ring or spot of light: as a: aureole b: a halo appearing around the shadow of an object

Glory (hod) - the manifestation of God’s presence. Glory is the perfect harmony of all His attributes into one infinitely beautiful and personal being.

How do I describe exactly what I mean or feel about glory or beauty? I can see it in the world that God created; a perfectly clear blue sunny sky, a clear star filled evening sky, or something as breathtaking as the Northern lights, a shooting star and say that is glorious.

We were made to display His glory.

"Let your light so shine among men that they may see your good deeds and give glory to your Father in heaven" (Mt. 5:16).

…..Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed even whom I have made" …(Isaiah 43:5-7 NASB).

“Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31).

Hi everyone,

Joy and blessings to all who stop by here.....

In a little package from mom I received this simple prayer:

Lord, Make me a channel of your Peace: flowerforyou

Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury... Pardon
Where there is discord... Unity
Where there is doubt... Faith
Where there is error... Truth
Where there is despair... Hope
Where there is sadness... Joy
Where there is darkness... Light

Oh Master, grant that I may not so much seek:
To be consoled... as to console
To be understood... as to understand
To be loved... as to love

For:
It is in giving... that we receive.
It is in pardoning... that we are pardoned.
It is in dying... that we are born to Eternal Life
(St. Francis).

Beautiful Britty....thank you and your mom....

All the greedy raise ur hand!

Pretty Deep.............Think About It!

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord
one day and said, Lord, I would like to know what Heaven
and Hell are like.'

The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room
was a large round table.

In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew
which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth
water.

The people sitting around

the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it impossible to reach
into the pot of stew and take a spoonful,

but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could

not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.'

They went to the next room and opened the door.
It was exactly the same as the first one. There
was the large round table with the large pot of stew
which made the holy man's mouth water. The people
were equipped with the same long-handled spoons,
but here the people were

well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, 'I don't understand.'

It is simple' said the Lord, 'it requires but
one skill. You see, they have learned to
feed each other, while the greedy think only of
themselves.'

When Jesus died on the cross he was
thinking of you!

Remember that Jesus wants us to help the helpless....and the meek shall inherit the earth...

That's pretty cool Deb.

A friend emailed that to me 2 days ago. The only difference was this bit at the end.....

When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you. Its estimated 93% won't forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title "7%".

I'm in the 7% .............

Remember that I will always share my spoon with you.

 I guess it is being sent all around the country.. and who knows......

Beatitudes for the Home

BLESSED are the husband and wife who continue to be affectionate and considerate, loving after the wedding bells have ceased ringing.

BLESSED are the husband and wife who are as polite and courteous to one another as they are to their friends.

BLESSED are they who have a sense of humor, for this attribute will be a handy shock absorber.

BLESSED are they who love their mates more than any other person in the world and who joyfully fulfill their marriage vows of lifetime of fidelity and mutual helpfulness to one another.

BLESSED are they who attain parenthood, for children are a heritage of the Lord.

BLESSED are they who remember to thank God for their food before they partake of it, and who set apart some time each day for the reading of the Bible and for prayer.

BLESSED are those mates who never speak loudly to one another and who make their home a place where "seldom is heard a discouraging word".

BLESSED are the husband and wife who faithfully attend the worship service of the church and who work together in the church for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom.

BLESSED are the husband and wife who can work out problems of adjustments without interference from relatives.

BLESSED is the couple who has a complete understanding about financial matters and who has worked out a perfect partnership with all money under the control of both.

BLESSED are the husband and wife who humbly dedicate their lives and their home to Christ and who practice the teachings of Christ in the home by being unselfish, loyal, and loving.

Good morning everyone and welcome.... coffee's on!!

In enjoyed reading these quotes whilst I ate my muffin this morning:

As the strongest faith may be shaken, so the weakest, where truth is, is so far rooted that it will prevail. Weakness with watchfulness will stand, when strength with too much confidence fails. Weakness, with acknowledgement of it, is the fittest seat and subject for God to perfect His strength in; for consciousness of our infirmities drives us out of ourselves to Him in whom our strength lies.

—Richard Sibbes

A true faith in Jesus Christ will not suffer us to be idle. No, it is an active, lively, restless principle; it fills the heart, so that it cannot be easy till it is doing something for Jesus Christ.

—George Whitefield

Oh let us continually keep faith in exercise, till it be entirely swallowed up in the boundless ocean of beatific vision.

—George Whitefield

No doubt [women of faith in the past] were reproached for His name's sake, and accounted mad women; but they had a faith which enabled them at that time to overcome the world, and by which they climbed up to heaven.

—George Whitefield

Where reason cannot wade there faith may swim.

—Thomas Watson

It is the nature of faith to believe God upon His bare word.... It will not be, saith sense; it cannot be, saith reason; it both can and will be, saith faith, for I have a promise.

—John Trapp

Hope you have a super day...

Thanks for that Britty.....It was wonderful to read. I had it on my heart to write on a subject near and dear to my heart. This is from my Open Bible Study Bible

Knowing how to grow in the ne life is essential. The old adage is ever true: "Sin will keep you from God's Word, and God's Word will keep you from sin."

No factor in Christian growth is more importatnt then prayer. Prayer may be defined as talking with and listending to God. We talk to Him with our lips and heart, and He talks to us through His will. It involves a two-way conversation. Spiritual maturity is impossible without systematic prayer.

Worship is essential also to spiritual growth. Worship involves honor and respect toward God. The ceremony of private and public worship, and the joyful service of Christians to their Lord. Christians who submit to the Lordship of Christ in recerence and service will grow in their spiritual lives.

The Bible describes Christian Life as "(Walking) by the Spirit" Gal 5:16) Walking best represents the step-by-step character of the spiritual life. Living by the Spirit's power is a moment-by-moment yielding to the spirit's will and control. The evidence that we are walking in the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) Walking in the Spirit involves confession of sin, yielding to God, and being filled with or the Spirit.

I love you all and hope you have a blessed and wonderful weekend.

Good morning all.. Hope you are all well. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. I share it with friends here, it does not mean much to my family - they are in the UK. I am hoping one or more of them visit for thanksgiving one year so they can see for themselves why I enjoy it. For those who are travelling to family/friends I wish you a safe journey there and a safe return home again. God bless..

Faithful Friend

Do you have a friend who is faithful to you no matter the situation? Are you a faithful friend? In today’s world, being honest does not seem to hold the value of time’s past. We hear of “the good old days” when people would give their word, shake hands and follow through on a promise made. Today, even though it is in writing, we still don’t always receive that which we expected.
Even our “friends” don’t always tell us the truth. When we need to be confronted about a situation, or warned of unwise choices, our friend may not speak up or may just gloss over a subject. Proverbs 27:6 says, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” A true friend will tell us what we need to hear, not what we want to hear. They will be more concerned about our true needs, and not afraid to hurt our feelings or lose our friendship. A real friend may cause a wound, knowing that when it heals, you will be a better person. “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.” (Pr. 27:9) Be ready to hear the words of a true friend and don’t resent the wound it brings. Be a true friend and tell the truth in every situation. Bring healing and perfume to your friend. Rejoice their heart

Good morning Ms. Britty....and all you happy campers in the coffeehouse.....

I have a few friends that are totally faithful to me. I have a close knit group of friends almost all christians that we would do anything for each other. We are pretty good about holding each other accoutable, and I always think a group of gal-pals that pray together stay together...giggle.

I have had to in the last year disconnect from a few of my friends, just because we were in different places and I didn't like what they brought out in me.....

I also have a group of guys and gals that I have been friends with on line for a few years and were pretty tight, and again honesty is always a given with themm all.

And Britty my new bud...I adore you gal...I know we will know each other for the rest of our lives.....and sometimes I think God puts angels here on earth.....Thank you God for Britty.

Love you guys and have a marvy day.

And of course

God Bless

Hey Britty:

I just learned that about the Lord of The Rings....I have not seen any of them. And it came up in conversation today and I was told all about the significance of the bible and good and evil. Which I like...I might even have to sit down and watch...

I hope you do Deb. I have the set of books which I have not completely read but I did see the movies. I thought they did an excellent job of creating everything. The image of the middle earth - all that greenery and countryside was excellent. J R R Tolkien spent much of his young life in Birmingham. He went, as a young boy, to King Edward school (a 'red brick' school is what they are classed as - kind of like the Ivy league schools they have here in the East Coast - although those are Universities).

One of the poems he discovered in the course of his Old English studies was the Crist of Cynewulf - he was amazed especially by the cryptic couplet:

Eálá Earendel engla beorhtast
Ofer middangeard monnum sended

- Hail Earendel brightest of angels, over Middle Earth sent to men. ("Middangeard" was a ancient expression for the everyday world between Heaven above and Hell below.)

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892-1973) was a major scholar of the English language, specialising in Old and Middle English. Twice Professor of Anglo-Saxon (Old English) at the University of Oxford, he also wrote a number of stories, including most famously The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954-1955), which are set in a pre-historic era in an invented version of the world which he called by the Middle English name of Middle-earth. This was peopled by Men (and women), Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, Orcs (or Goblins) and of course Hobbits. He has regularly been condemned by the Eng. Lit. establishment, with honourable exceptions, but loved by literally millions of readers worldwide.

God loves you. He cares when you are feeling sad, hurt, lonely, dejected. He can be your friend, your retreat, your strength. He is always present – even when you do not realize it. God wants you to push those clouds of despair and sadness away, and see blue skies and yellow sunrises. When we turn to him, He guides us into Joy. He brings us peace and hope…

To Jesus I repair;
May Jesus Christ be praised!

The Valley of Silence";––

In the hush of the valley of silence
I dream all the songs that I sing;
And the music floats down the dim valley,
Till each finds a word for a wing,
That to hearts, like the dove of the Deluge,
A message of peace they may bring.
But far on the deep there are billows
That never shall break on the beach;
And I have heard songs in the silence
That never shall float into speech;
And I have had dreams in the valley
Too lofty for language to reach.
And I have seen thoughts in the valley,––
Ah me, how my spirit was stirred!
And they wear holy veils on their faces,
Their footsteps can scarcely be heard;
They pass through the valley like virgins,
Too pure for the touch of a word.
Do you ask me the place of the valley,
Ye hearts that are harrowed by care?
It lieth afar between mountains,
And God and His angels are there:
One is the dark mountain of sorrow,
And one the bright mountain of prayer.

It is only in the valley of silence with Christ that we can dream the dreams and see the visions which we desire to translate into actual life and character among men. There alone can we get the heavenly inspirations and impulses for holy earthly living. Only in the mount can we be shown the patterns of the sacred things which our hands should fashion in this world.

Thankful Heart
Have you ever noticed that thankful people are thoughtful people? Thankful people never forget the kindness that's been shown to them by God or others. As a result, they become more attentive towards the needs of others. Thoughtfulness is the fruit of a thankful heart.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe one for all those who are travelling to be with family.

Anyone care to share how they will be spending thanksgiving; with family or friends......?
