Topic: I love you!!!! | |

I wait until I KNOW i want to be with them long term...
Love to me isn't a 'feeling' that's lust in my opinion. Love to me is much deeper, and if i tell them those words yes I have those feelings as well(lust) but that I'm willing to be with and care for them even if those feeling ebb and flow. For me, when I tell someone I love them.... It means, even in the hard times I'm willing to work for the relationship. It means I'm willing to celebrate their accomplishments with them and console them in their failures, It means I know it won't be all rosy 100% of the time, but I'm willing to go the distance and work as hard as i can to attain that. To me, when i say to someone "i love you" it also means "i'm committed to you, and this relationship, and will do my best to make us happy as a couple" |

Be honest. If love is not there, it is not there.
Maybe it will grow, but generally with the 'One' you can't wait to reciprocate. 'I love you'. I have found it is a mutual revealing of love. |

Didn't see that coming. Whoever your partner is right now Sir..I know why she feels so blessed:) I say, it beats more than winning the lottery..thumbsup: |

Since I am assuming we are talking about the" I am in love with you" words... Those words are hard for me. Because when I love someone... that means I am ready to commit and that scares the crap out of me. I have said it first and was scared spitless.. I have also had it said to me when I knew I wasn't in love with them and most likely would never be. This has happened a couple of times I answered I love spending time with you... Both times. The first one let it go at that.. The second wanted to know what that meant. I had to be honest... I loved spending time with them but I wasn't in love with them big difference. I can love many people and have loved a few different men but I wasn't " in love with them" a huge difference in my book of words.. I m sure your roast is done if my ham is... What is your opinion or experience Feel the same way, hihi. I think many -if not most- feel that way too? Otherwise it wouldn't be so hard and awkward for people to say those three words? Basically you become vulnerable when you say "I love you" and no one likes to be vulnerable. Stupid thing is, we do that to ourselves because we expect (as in almost demand) to hear the other say those three words too. That's what scares us, them not saying it. If we would stop expecting to hear it back, it wouldn't be so scary anymore. You'd just express your own feelings, nothing more, nothing less. I've been there with my ex, and to be honest, it was really quite nice. I knew he wouldn't say it back (effing narcissist), so there was no stress in expressing my feelings. Whenever I felt strong love for him, I just said "I love you". It was pure, straight from the heart, no expectations. And it felt good, even though he didn't say it to me. Felt really good to be able to express my feelings freely. Not sure how I'd feel about it with a new partner though. I think the most awkward would be him saying "I love you" and me not feeling the same way (yet). Not sure if I'd say it back just cos it's expected of me. I don't like lying. Saying "I love to spend time with you" is a real good answer. |

Funny, I can't remember in any of my relationships you said "I love you" first or when. The relationship just grew and we got to a point where we both knew we loved each other.

I sometimes wait for the other person to say it. If they don't, I eventually say it anyway. If a friend says it, I say it back to them. I'm just a sentimental lunatic. You see :)
