.......
...and How did you make them proud? |

me and my 3 brothers were always getting into some sort of trouble, in school, fights or being chased around by the local cops. Nothing big.. just shenanigans.
But all 4 of us grew out of that and into being good men. good husbands, good fathers. And also into fathers who know when their boys are up to no good Lol |

I pissed them off by getting corn row braids a la Bo Derek in "10", buying a cat without consulting them first, showing up at a conservative wedding with my corn row braids, playing my music really loud, and mostly doing things my way.
I made them proud by being academically gifted, an Honor student at the top of my class from grade school to high school to college and graduating with Honors. We are immigrants so my parents always come to me for letter writing in their business affairs since my language skills are topnotch. They rely on me as a liaison for their business affairs. Since I have a big mouth (shocking, I know you can't believe it ), I deal with difficult people for them and diffuse any potentially difficult situations. I buy things for them all the time on the internet since they are not computer savvy. I am pretty much a Goddess to my folks because there is nothing they can ask me that is ever too difficult for me to help them out. I see how they struggle with many things in life due to the culture and language barrier. I ease into everything effortlessly. I sometimes get upset with them that they seem to complicate their lives. I always try to ease their lives. I wouldn't appreciate my talents if I didn't observe how my parents struggle with certain things in life which I find completely effortless. It makes me appreciate myself more. |

I started stealng my dads car for joyrides at age 12...got involved with local hoodlum gangsters at age 14...got locked up that same time for gun posession....hacked into a local bank intranet system at age 16...went seriously into studies after that & to university & had more minor issues later which id rather not say but i learnt a LOT about life, people, friendships, family, love, heartache, disappointments & nearly all of lifes challenges but at 27 i went a lil wild when i started drinking alcohol & making bad decisions, bar fights...& where i come from in africa its rare to see a white guy beating up 3 to 4 ppl at once..mostly from racist Discrimination....that was me until last Year....
But dat s h i t is the past i believe i'm older & wiser now |

ma and I had are go-arounds by time I was a teenager
mother/daugher stuff similar temperaments " you will not leave the house young lady until everyone of those dirty dishes are clean" so I would take off and leave one dirty spoon in sink " your curfew is midnight and not a second later" so I would park in driveway and not come in til 12:01 I have never liked being told what to do.. not real sure I ever made that woman proud |

My parents (mainly my mom I think) wasn't happy with a girlfriend I had...
They weren't happy with my boyfriend They weren't happy with my choice of partner, future hubby They weren't happy with my choice of 2nd partner ... Proud? I haven't a clue to be honest I guess that's why I've always made sure my own kids dang well know I am proud of them when the occasion calls for it, and in general too. |

Not talking to them calling them buy their first name Going to university Standing up for myself and family what was wrong with calling them by their first name? Yeah, by my upbringing calling your mom or dad by their first name was a "no." I don't know...it's just weird societal values. |
