i think it's pretty random, too.

while one might have an affinity towards certain attributes, from my experience chemistry and timing play a more significant role.

"Attraction" is based on reproduction and mostly on the information you don't even realize you're taking in via the senses.

Otherwise it's based on ego. Finding someone that is just an extension of your ego, your image, of who you think you are. i.e. a rationalized beard that offers some kind of social or tangible gain.
