Poetry is deeply personal, and it is an insight into anothers soul...it is soul expression...

it is lovely for those that wish to express their gratitude to the poets, however collecting votes, and generating accolades, in a populairty contest, I feel isn't necessary...most people who are touched by anothers works, post a comment, sometimes as simple as a flower emoticon...

or more indepth by mail...

did you ask the poets who are being elected, if they were comfortable with it?

While I agree that was a wonderful thought to pay tribute to those who wish to share their feelings and thoughts in their poetry, I have to agree with NPP, and Jess.

It may end up hurting someones feelings that do post poetry, and maybe make then not sure about sharing at all, for the fear of being judged.

There are many talented, and truly awesome poets here, and dont really think it should be turned into a competition....
Just my thoughts

Please, this must not happen! It is competition! To put it into a home of peace and comfort is wrong. There is no way that all can be represented fairly by their works, which is what this forum is about! Some share less than others and their words while beautiful and marvelous works, are less read. I see only trouble coming from this type of "promotion".

I support your efforts and applaud your willingness to get people involved more with each other, your radio show, but I beg you, please keep peace in my home and don't make it a rivalry.

I know I am new here and my voice may not count but, I saw my name listed so... while I am flattered by this. I do not think this is a good idea.

There are so many different styles here it would be un-fair to put one against the other. Like it or not this place is filled with people. With people come feelings. The format as it is, does not encourage anyone to be mean however, if you introduce competition you may open a door you can not close. You will see clicks you will see jealousy and you will, without intent hurt some people.

There must be a better way to do this.

Well I myself have just re-read these words from the others and yes there are so many here that have a gift. Some have been here a very long time and some only for a short time. Remembering back the last time they had a voting down some joined in some did not. I was one of those that did not had not been here long knew my words could not with hold against those that were so gifted. How did it make me feel well put it this way not too good.

There are some here that post every day some only once in a while. Even I know there are those that only post a piece here once in a while. That there words for out way were mind could ever be. But see some may not see that due to they chose not to post much.

Yeah at first I thought it was pretty kewl. But ..... as I think about it not so kewl afterwards.

For the reason I write is because I enjoy it and even it is only for some kind words that is okay with me I dont need a status of were my poems rate. Because of the ones that post on them make me feel at the TOP OF THE WOLRD. You see I'm no better then the next person does not matter if you have wrote 5 or 500 poems who is to say whose is better when you read a poem from the one that only wrote 5 and each and everyone of them move you to tears but the one that wrote 500 never gets you that way. Hummmmmmmmmm

SO ANYWHO NOW THAT I HAVE SAID ALL OF THAT WHICH TO SOME MAY SOUND LIKE I WAS BABBLING WHICH MAYBE I WAS!!!

SO I WILL MAKE THIS CLEAR PLEASE REMOVE MY NAME ALSO FROM THE LIST!!

I DON'T NEED TO PROVE ANYTHING FOR LIKE I SAID THERE ARE ONES HERE THAT FAR OUT WAY ME WITH THE GIFT

Although I appreciate the wonderfulness of your thoughts, I too would like to bow out of this contest. If you would like to reward me in some way please place your thoughts in the appropriate thread. I am only here for reading enjoyment, to inspire and constructive criticism. I seek not worship for my writing I only wish to inspire others, to remind them, to let them know that there is light. I mean no disrespect by this post. I only wish to remain as I am, a person whom which projects his thoughts to others. Though I do once again thank you for the thought.

We all love you for your intentions, applaud you for your efforts. It is simply that this idea is not so great as I know you had thought it to be. There is no ill will or animosity of any kind intended in our rejection, only concern. We love you! Keep up the good work! Just no "competition" for "who is ....." all we ask

The poems section is a place all it's own where people come to share their Hopes & Dreams, Heart aches & sorrows, Tragic pasts that need to come to the light to heal. Joy & happiness past & present.
This isn't a place to judge anybody on anything they do.
There are times that poems get buried if there are alot posted & it's a shame too because they don't get the reconition that is due & feelings get hurt..

I will send a letter to Mike asking for this to be removed.
please have consideration for everybodies feelings & do the same. No I don't hang out in here even thou these are all dear friends to me & I was asked what I thought on this because it is bothering people...
