jess what did it look like? i have raised giant moths.
the caterpillars are magnificent and huge and the giant moths are gorgeous. my favorite is Luna. so pretty with those long tails and creamy green color. last year a Cecropia spent the night on my porch and i brought him inside for the kids to see and play with! they really loved it! then we took him back outside and let him go... and i have also raised Polyphemus i also like the beautiful colors of underwings.... |

Sorry s1ow, I couldn't see your post...weird.
It was all the sooty greys of the bushland here, with a beautiful mask, and an orange red spot on the middle of his forhead. His underbelly was so fat and thick, and was banded in cream and grey. His wings looked like the patterns of dark and light grey bark. His legs were a creamy colour. His face was like a fuzzy teddy bear. So cool. |

maybe a giant australian wood moth. never seen them except pictures. don't know what their caterpillars look like but
the ones of the giant moths here in N. Amer. are huge and just grand. have heard that some of the Aussie ones live like 3 years and get like 15 cm long. majestic creatures. i was an amateur lepidopterist as a kid... |

I just mailed the stuff to you, s1ow, apparently they can grow up to 23 cms....how's that for a big moth...whoa!
It would eat a winter coat in an hour!! |

should I give them a little branch to make their cocoons ??
should'nt they be in there coccons sleepin by now?? I am concerned , and NO I am NOT taking them to the VET... |

dd,
do you know what kind they are? they will likely make their cocoons or chrysalis on the leaves...bit twigs won't hurt. they'll need the right kind of food to reach full size...there are some sites out there describing how to raise your caterpillars to maturity. it takes some patience but it is fun!! |

[scratch] its 655am here and the boats are all pointing to the west. the sea is gently rippling and the fishermen are all coughing, hacking and discussing the voluptuous blonde on page 3 of a tabloid newspaper ... "ITS A MAN, YOU SCHMUCKS!!!" They will never learn. Its another beautiful autumnal day here in the ar5e-end of the universe. Is it March yet? |
