But packing up? You gotta do that yourself anyways. Back in the day in Jakarta, there were men who'd pack up your groceries and take them to your car for some 100-150 Rupiah. We don't have that kind of thing over here.

Yes.. I remember that as well.. they didn't even ask you.. they just followed you out to your car with your groceries.... people used to pump your gas and check your tires and oil for you too..... but then.. those people..... who would rather put convenience..... before service..... stepped in...... and no offense.. to those who use the self checkout...

Well I get pumping my own gas. But what I don't get is that I go into the store, I shop for the products I need, I go up to the register and there are 25 lanes where an employee would be....and only two lanes open (one of which is the 10 ITEMS OR LESS lane) but all 97 self checkout's are open. WTF!!!

That's why prefer Mom & Pops store in the hood. Those Asians be like "Hurry up & buy!"

That is why I try to rise above the rat race. People love to whine about how bad they have it, how they are being abused and mistreated by the system. If you can't beat them, join them. Where my parents live (small town in Alabama) they have Mom and Pop gas stations, and there is this little old black lady that owns and runs this one out in the country. She services mostly white people and loves it. She will talk your ear off but she is so awesome that you don't mind. Plus....that lady knows fishing and will give you tips too.
