Is it a sin to eat pork, shellfish and fish w/o scales? There are a lot of conflicting views on this subject.

In Islam and Judaism, yes, it is sinful. The Old Testament says those are unclean and not to be eaten, but there is debate about whether Jesus changed that when he said what goes out of the mouth, not what goes in is what makes a man clean or unclean.

It's important to know both what the Bible and the Quran have to say about this subject.

Most people assume that Muslims don't eat Pork because it's a carrying-over of Jewish Kosher Law, but that isn't so.

The earliest reference to that which is 'clean and unclean' can be found in Genesis chapter 7. Right at the beginning of this chapter we read that Noah was instructed to take upon the Ark that he was to build, sevens of pairs of that which was clean, as opposed to only two of that which were unclean.

Which beckons the question, 'What is unclean if Noah wasn't Jewish?'

Remember, Noah was born several generations before Abraham, and is really a patriarch of ALL of humanity.

It's obvious there were dietary prerequisites that proceed the Jewish era!

The Quran explains, there were foods that were clean originally for the Israelites, but because of their willful disobedience, We (The Angels) obliged them to not eat a good-many things that were formerly clean.

The original definition of 'unclean' would actually be any terrestrial animal or bird that hunts or eats carrion (Other Dead Animals).

So, Muslims, for example will not eat Pig or Pork Or Bacon or Ham, or Marshmallows or Jell-O, because Pigs are omnivorous and are not cattle, that merely graze on grass and vegetation.

Even the 'original Christians' didn't eat Pork, till a Pope decreed to do so in the 4th century.

Why should a non-Jew worry about dietary laws that pertain specifically to them?

Because it's obvious from Genesis 7 that, that which is a dietary prerequisite is older than Judaism.

Kosher is not in the Bible. That is another commentary. Jews do it also. Yahshua did not give Commentaries he wanted us to think for ourselves.

Jews do many things that r not in the bible yet people believe they r.

Thank you for the clarification. One thing to remember is Jesus did not say that eating what was once considered unclean is ok. He simply said that what comes out of your mouth, and not what goes in, is what makes you clean or unclean. Even His Disciples often didn't understand what He was saying.

many people eat and drink blood... either as regular food or as medicine... (no, not talking about vampires...lol...)... as well as animals with blood that was not let out... especially in my region, yet the same profess to be christians/catholics...

the same goes with foods prepared and offered to idols and the dead...

both of which are prohibited in the bible... (and not for any health reasons)

otherwise, i know all other foods were considered clean already and that no one is to be condemned for what it is they choose to eat or not to eat according to their conscience...

I'm not disagreeing with you. Just pointing out that one quote may be used to justify what's not allowed. People of every religion use the parts they like to justify the sins they like.

err...seriously?....i did qualify christians and catholics....

and i don't think either gets to pick and choose which part of the bible fits in the religion they have professed to be a part of...

and if it does happen... the new testament usually gets used more than the old testament...

the topic was... what is considered as sinful foods... and the OP asked about specific foods but did not mention of which religion... so i gave an answer accordingly in order to avoid confusion on the subject...

Therein lies the whole reason the question itself is even valid. Many who call themselves Christians either falsely believe that the New Testament negates the Old Testament, or that because Jesus said certain things that all sins are permissible. The brilliance of your answer is that it provokes more questions.
