Topic: Meeting someone with limited time | |

What is one to do when you meet someone with many similar takes on life as you, only to find out this person only has a few years left to live? I have been through some interesting heart breaking situations in my near past and am trying to meet new people. I finally meet someone who is pretty damn good, yet I was told that she has very little time left here on earth. She showed me her doctors notes and I was just blown away. Very sad situation after dealing with such a powerful lost I have recently endured. Sad for her, and hard on me at the same time. At least I was told with honesty though.

Humm I would say it all depends on how you feel about that person. If you truly care about someone and can handle the situation then go for it... But don't do it out of pity.. It is all up to the individual hard call to make for some can not handle something like that. And they don't need someone that is not willing to be there when they really need them..

No pity for this person. Just not sure I can handle another heart ache. And this is not a selfish thing at all. Just still broken from my previous issue. Wonderful mind and heart she has. Feeling kinda stuck!

Feeling kinda stuck! If you feel that you can not handle it then go for it, don't start something you can not handle. That person needs someone that what every is wrong with them is not a factor to them for they love them enough and they want to be there with them.. If you want to just be friends then be their friend be honest with them.. It would be tough enough to have been told you may not have long to live.. They sure don't need someone that would dwell on the fact they may not have long to live.. And turn away when they need them the most.. There is no guarantee in life any of us will have tomorrow.. |

This description fits me...just how do I handle it..... This is no joke.... One day at a time with a woman beside you that sees you, not the illness.... My heart goes out to you zippy... You have shown us it's never too late to love and enjoy each day you have... |

Depends on how your heart feels. Life is full of choices, isn't it? Whoa, life is complex.

my wife is slowly wasting away. She has Parkinson's and hear mind is starting to go. I wish I could find the quote. About pets. Something about the best gift you can ever give your pet, is to be there for them when they pass, if you can. Tis the hardest thing to do, but the strongest thing also. Same for people. Be there when they need you. No guilties after. And OP, it occurs to me, here you are in a position of limbo, not over your last trauma yet, and you meet someone who also is not seeking the long run, well, it seems almost serendipitous that you should meet. I see it as an opportunity. To simply give, expecting nothing. You have unspent grief. This new lady you like, maybe she could use some of it. |
