Topic: Seen vs. FB | |
---|---|
(Posting it here, as it's about communication and networking, not about software or computers ..)
Wondering how many ppl are going to Seen and leaving FB? I just signed up, but must admit I never like getting used to new software, sites etc.. Like using Gimp cos it's freeware while I'm familiar with Photoshop.. Seen is allegedly safer, free, no privacy infringements etc. So wondering how many have already changed over or are thinking about it? |

Seen must be very new. I've not heard of it before now. I know a lot of people who have abandoned their Facebook for twitter though.

Is mostly because FB is changing their terms & conditions, at least for Europeans. From Jan 1st 2015 they have the right to use your name, profile picture for advertisements, you give up all your rights to anything you post on you FB, INCLUDING videos, pictures etc.
If you don't agree, you cannot log in anymore. FB knows that most underestimate the implications of all that, and aren't really willing to give up their social network, so most will just accept this intrusion of privacy and rights to your own pictures, videos etc. So if you got pictures of your artwork on FB, you've lost copyright, FB has the right to use it as they see fit and make money with it ... They will also use your location, so they basically know where you are and when, the excuse being that they can offer better ads (which makes them billions). So it can happen that your profile picture turns up in some ad, and there will be nothing you can do about it, nor do you get paid for it. Except for the Germans, no European has the option to choose in this issue, it's accept the deal or no FaceBook. So Germans do have an option to choose to not give up their rights, photos etc etc. You can take it to court, but ... then you'd have to go to the States... Who can and will do that? All the info they collect is being sent and processed in the States. Seen.is does not come with all that BS, so that's what it's all about.. |

Yes, I've got my account up and running on Seen :)
A number of my friends are there as well now. It looks like a lot of ppl will leave FB, problem will be the ones that stay on FB, ppl you want to stay in touch with still... I think I will delete all my albums and photos end of this month, remove my own name as well. So basically keep a 'bare' FB account for a bit. And when Seen really takes off, delete my FB account. Must say I find it highly suspect that the Germans get to keep their privacy.. Remembering Big Pharma & Codex Alimentarius, the whole Big Brother is watching you're every move thing .. Germans have been and still are part of this. It looks like they made a deal "Our people get to keep our privacy and rights, or the deal is off!" WW3 with virtual trenches. Makes me wonder if the Germans will ever change? I spose you Americans won't lose your privacy and rights? Still, I do hope most ppl will go to Seen!! |
