The NAACP will be holding a march to protest voter ID laws. In order to attend, all members are required to bring along a photo ID. What hypocritical idiots In a flier entitled “Important Dos and Don'ts<<(Don't got no spail chekker .) for Marchers!!!,” the NAACP state at the top that all protesters conduct themselves “in accordance with the historic custom of the Civil Rights Movement.” They should also listen to their “marshals at all times” and follow the “Dos” and “Don’ts” underneath the opening paragraph. More hypocrisy is in store, like a chief SAFE Act ally being arrested for carrying a loaded gun into an elementary school. Some of the Dos are sensible for any rally, such as, “look out for the elderly and the young” and “wear a hat and very comfortable shoes” (emphasis theirs). Then there are ones that are common sense that you wouldn’t expect to have to tell people, such as “DO NOT intimidate, threaten, ostracize or degrade anyone,” and do not threaten commuters. In the middle of the list, however, is a drastically ironic “Do.” To go to the rally, you are asked to have “photo identification (driver’s license, passport or other valid photo id) with you and keep it on your person at all times.” Remember, this is a protest against needing a photo ID to take part in a fundamental responsibility of Americans… but to go to that protest, you are supposed to have an ID. The last piece of advice that the flier gives is “Remember the ABC’s: Always Be Cool!!!!!” |

dos and donts aren't REQUIREMENTS
do you suppose those not seen actively 'looking out for elderly and young will not be permitted in? its sort of like when we are advised 'DO OBEY THE POLICE' even though its not illegal to 'disobey' if an officer is trying to impose upon a right because he believes you don't know better,,,, its perceivable, that at such a rally, the VERY THING that may happen to derail it is a sweep or 'authorities' checking ids,,,, having the ids is one more suggestion to HELP reinforce a smooth and peaceful rally... |

having the ids is one more suggestion to HELP reinforce a smooth and peaceful rally... Well now. Who changed the definition of REQUIRED to (a suggestion)? no one needed to change the definition, the word 'required' is not there the referenced NAACP source is a list of dos and donts,, suggestions not REQUIREMENTS,,, |

Aaaah. The spin. Substitute the word suggestion for "important". yes, it is 'IMPORTANT' that we be cautious of potential sources of disruption but it is not 'REQUIRED' |

Actually, I can somewhat see this issue from the perspective of that NAACP chapter. |
