The leader of the pack in Ferguson the one that keeps reigniting the fires the Honorable or should we say the not so Honorable Reverend Al Sharpton.

Did you know?

In a 1988 interview, Sharpton said he saw no reason why blacks should pay taxes. “If we do not have a justice system that protects us, what are we paying for?” Sharpton has faced multiple charges—and one conviction—of tax evasion.

TAWANA BRAWLY: 1987. Al Sharpton, during the infamous Tawana Brawley case, falsely accused a former assistant district attorney of raping and sodomizing Ms. Brawley. Young Tawana stated that white racists abducted, raped, and sodomized her, scrawling the initials “KKK” on her in human feces. A grand jury later found the entire incident a complete hoax.

Ms. Brawley, afraid of punishment for staying out too late, fabricated the entire story. This did not stop Reverend Al Sharpton, who accused Pagones an assistant district attorney, of the crime. “We stated openly that Steven Pagones did it. If we’re lying, sue us, so we can go into court with you and prove you did it. Sue us—sue us right now.”

Sharpton got his wish Pagones sued him and won the jury awarded Pagones $65,000 in damages which Sharpton refused to pay. Later he did pay up after 2 years but never apologized.

CENTRAL PARK JOGGER: In 1989 “the jogger,” a young white woman, was monstrously raped and nearly beaten to death in Central Park. Sharpton insisted—despite the defendants’ confessions—that her black attackers were innocent, modern-day Scottsboro Boys trapped in “a fit of racial hysteria.” Sharpton charged that the jogger’s boyfriend did it, and organized protests outside the courthouse, chanting, “The boyfriend did it!” and denouncing the victim as “Whore!” He brought Tawana Brawley to the trial, to show her “white justice” and arranged for her to meet the attackers. Sharpton appealed for a psychiatrist to examine the victim, generously saying, “It doesn’t even have to be a black psychiatrist….We’re not endorsing the damage to the girl—if there was this damage.” (While it doesn’t excuse his calling the victim a “whore” and denigrating any damage to her, or his accusations against the boyfriend, the convictions of the accused were eventually vacated, despite their taped confessions, after another man—whose DNA matched—confessed to the rape in 2002.)

CROWN HEIGHTS/ “DIAMOND MERCHANTS”: In 1991, Gavin Cato, a seven-year-old black child was killed in a traffic accident in Crown Heights (in Brooklyn), when a car driven by a Hasidic Jew went out of control. Sharpton turned it into a racial incident. Sharpton led 400 protesters through the Jewish section of Crown Heights, with one protester holding a sign that read, “The White Man Is the Devil.” There were four nights of rock- and bottle-throwing, and a young Talmudic scholar was surrounded by a mob shouting, “Kill the Jew” and stabbed to death. A hundred others were injured. Sharpton said, “The world will tell us that [Gavin Cato] was killed by accident….What type of city do we have that would allow politics to rise above the blood of innocent babies?…Talk about how Oppenheimer in South Africa sends diamonds straight to Tel Aviv and deals with the diamond merchants right here in Crown Heights….All we want to say is what Jesus said: If you offend one of these little ones, you got to pay for it. No compromise. Pay for your deeds.” Later Sharpton said, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.”

I never knew he called the woman a whore, that was as unforgivable as calling a victim a dead thug. But he was an angrier man back in the day (twenty odd years ago) In his early thirties. Hopefully he has learned and grown since then.

He was right about the youth being set up though. He was right to speak out for them, it was not right to use the language about the victim.
,,,but that's not really uncommon , even amongst much older folks is it?

The relevant and recent things people don't know,, ESPECIALLY from the constant retort of 'why doesn't anyone say anything about black on black crime' that so many turn to to quiet down protests about police brutality or racial injustice,,,

can be found at the Reverends website for his National Action Network

he not only speaks up for black minorities, but also the LGBT community and children and underserved citizens,,,,

This is what happens when you go in half cocked. They should wait for the evidence to come out before they jump the gun.

I hope this officer sues Sharpton and takes him to the cleaners.

There's a big difference. The woman he called a whore didn't go in commit a robbery, attack an old man and go back to try to intimidate him then leave and go on to attack a cop. I hate to break it to you but that is a thug and a violent one at that. Normal people don't go around committing robberies and attacking old men and police officers.

give it a rest

the difference is

1. this happened over TWENTY YEARS Ago and its already agreed it was wrong to call her a whore

2. the 'thug' did not 'go back' anywhere,, he was confronted while leaving and pushed back his confronter before continuing to leave

similar to the confrontation with an officer who FIRST approached HIM before he struggled with him and continued to TRY to leave,,,

plenty of 'normal' people , especially young people, shoplift things and shove people

and not being 'normal' would still not be justification for being gunned down in the street

really, cause when I was 1year old I wasn't typing on a computer, and yet now, I can really fly

when I was 13 , I didn't think my parents understood, but now I totally relate to how much they understood

when I was 18, I thought all that mattered was 'love' and now I know the significance of 'resources' and plans

for those who believe humans cant grow, evolve, and change, I feel sorry, cause they must have a very stagnant and unfulfilling existence believing that of themselves,,,

I see what he has grown into.

what ever happened to the charge of inciting riot

nothing, when one can be found to be guilty of it

Under federal law, a riot is a public disturbance involving an act of violence by one or more persons assembled in a group of at least three people.

Inciting a riot applies to a person who organizes, encourages, or participates in a riot. It can apply to one who urges or instigates others to riot. According to 18 USCS 2102 "to incite a riot", or "to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot", includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit,

Clearly you didn't watch the video, he steps out of the store turns around and goes back inside to confront the old man again and leaves.

Actually, once again you don't know what the hell your talking about. I have worked in Loss Prevention since 97-98 (with on average 60 apprehensions a month, do the math on how many I have caught and prosecuted) and only about 5% of the time do they fight or run. 9 times out of 10 when they do that they have a history of violence or are a violent person.

I really don't care if you have taken down a serial killer, if you weren't THERE for THIS incident , you don't become some expert on what happened

He never left the store, he grabbed the man, pushed him back, pushed open the door before the owner could lock it, so Johnson could leave, and turned back towards the owner who was headed towards the door again and continued to stand in an intimidating pose,,,,,

before EXITING the store

If Sharpton would apologize for his past misdeeds, then he'd get more respect.

If people would watch more black owned channels, like OWN or actually listen to any of Sharptons broadcast, they would know that he has apologized for some of his past anger and statements,,,,

but its easier to just stick to the template that mainstream media paints for people,,,
