I can imagine a situation where I might feel something like pity or compassion towards someone (among other feelings) and I have had girlfriends that had problems and were looking for their "knight in shining armour". There's got to be some sort of spark though and I've got to genuinely like them. I don't think that really counts as doing it out of pity though. I think that people just say that it's a pity shag when they really mean that they do want to have sex with you but not a relationship. It can be a bit abusive really; saying to someone that you are actually romantically involved with that you don't want to be with them I mean.
