Flying the Flag 9/11/07

THE PROGRAM IS THIS:

On Tuesday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed
outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every
individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this anniversary
of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their
lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the
pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our
cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in
American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood
shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared.
Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack
to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country
and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do...


Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11.
Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round,
but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

I got up....turned on my radio, took a shower.....got ready for work....finally it dawned on me that there was nothing but talking on the radio and no music.....I started to listen.......then I turned the tv on and just stopped....it was surreal.....went to work....nothing but somberness.....all clients, coworkers somber.....listening to the radio talking about it.....not knowing what to expect next......was a sad day I will never forget!!!

I was getting ready for school ... my husband at the time called and told me to turn on the television. It was so surreal. A sad time for all of humanity. In that moment and the moments to follow ... we were one nation ... we ceased being Canadian and American ... we thought only of human

i crossed the george washington bridge at 5 am,, and passed newark airport as the planes were taking off

i just come home from work . and me and my ex wife had a fight that day before. i had asked her is everything is ok. she said yeah we are cool. i told her i have a feeling somthing is not right. so i went to sleep. i woke up that after noon , when i turned on th radio by mistake. thats when i learned what happen. i work on a supply dock and talk about not knowing what was going on even more when i got to work. we thought the place would be attack to because its a supply dock for the people that go off shore.
take a momment to rember those who gave there lives today .
not just 9/11 but everyone from every war and battle

i was watching d news and right before my very eyes as if am watching a movie. A plane came too fast and hit the first tower.I know the world STOP as this is not a joke... then followed by a nother plane. Before i knew 8 am already crying thinking of the tales those passengers have to say... I was kneeling then and utter Prayers... then all over the cable channel that scenario was repeated and captions are everywhere and all...
I was in atrance as if am standing before GOD...and i realized that our LIFE is not ours but all are Borrowed and we have none to boast for in front of GOD or this Being beyond us.

at work

i was at work--not even clocked in yet--smokin' some cig and i looked up the sky and noticed two planes flying in circle--so i said what the hell?--- so around after 8 that morning -one of the fellas at work said to me that incident in ny--you know--like one of the plane crashed thru the building---i thought he was being bs'ing about till 10 oclock--it was on the news--big time--and i'm like whoa----it was a tragic day on my bday--like some kind of curse--

but it's all good now--got my flag out flying---

i know how you feel shadow,, my birthday every year is preceded with something bad, thats how i know its my birthday.like last year my grandma died the day before

I was at work in DC, I'd just gotten there when my mom called and all she could say was turn on the news, nothing else would come out. By that time, everyone at work was finding out, then the plane at the Pentagon hit. We went up on the roof and could see it burning. My boss just looked at me and said let's go home, fill my car with as many people as it'll hold. So, we left. Took forever, but what I remember most is being in the middle of DC and there was pretty much absolute silence, no horns, no planes flying (we were by the airport), nothing and everyone was so polite. People who were walking across the bridges (subway wasn't running) and others were stopping to pick them up. We finally got home and I just went and picked my son up from school. Later, I had to pick my mom up at the subway station after they got them running again. There were soldiers, guns, tanks, dogs, everywhere. But the quiet is what I'll remember the most, I've never seen a city that quiet and I hope I never do again.

I was actually in my 11th grade Science class when it came on TV, the whole school was watching the news. I didnt know what the hell was going on at first.

I was home in bed with food poisoning. I had been sick all night long. My sister had already picked up my son to take him to day care.

I was listening to the radio. Turned on CNN when the first reports came over the radio.

They ended up evacuating the day care where my son went at the time since it was a Jewish facility.

Had family stuck in town for a few days due to no flight. This was help to me since I was so sick. I did not lose anyone directly from the tragedy. However, my step nephew who lived in the city could not deal with it all and took his life a week or so later.

Wow, 6 years already.

I was at work. When the news of the first tower came on we were all shocked....then the second tower. Somebody had a TV on and we just watched in horror as the events unfolded. My first reaction was to clock out and go home just so I could be with my family, but our bosses wouldn't let us. I was just numbed by the whole thing that something this tragic could happen right here in the USA. I still continue to pray for those that lost their lives that day and their families....today's anniversay will be no different....just an extra special prayer because it is the anniversary.

was heading out the driveway, to go to the career center to look for a job, and turned the radio on and the dj's were saying "this isnt a prank or joke ppl a plane just hit the towers.... oh my God, a plane just hit the twin towers and now they are reporting another plane hit. and while i was waiting in the reception area they had it on the overhead speakers and one of the ladies that worked there ran out of the building and they said her son worked in one of the towers...... GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL WHO LOST THEIR LIFE TO THE LOWLIFE COWARDS.......WE ARE COMING FOR YOU, BET ON IT:

I was at work, I work in telecommunications in NY. They were watching CNN and saw when the planes it the towers. We served all over the country and were getting thousands of calls from all over wondering what had happened to their phone service. I got tired of saying "don't you have TV in your part of the country". One of the MAJOR phone building in NYC had a gaping hole in it from when the tower fell. Obviously it took months for phone service to get back...remotely till normal. I am so glad that I didn't work in Manhattan, thank God. I know people that worked on West Street that was not able to return to work after that. They wound up not returning and going out on a disability for stress and not being able to cope with such a tragic thing.....

WOW puffins, you were close, glad you werent there and will pray for all those ppl who are affected, i guess alot of ppl dont realize about the other ppl who suffered mentally and i heard some ppl couldnt go back to work after seein bodies falling out the windows and such.

I was on my way to work, listening to the radio- I thought it was some kind of "story" at first. Then a horrible accident. When I realized it was planned, I was totally shocked. How horrible. I remember noone talked at work, only to relay new things they had heard. 2 days later I picked up film, and pictures of my sons field trip the week before to the statue of liberty...The towers in the background...Very sobering to think they may have been some of the last pictures taken of them..Bless all those directly affected by 9/11...

I was at work, didn't believe it, until I heard it on the loudspeaker they decided to play what was going on instead of music that day

My brother called and told me to turn on the T.V

I was shocked and heart broken

I was on my way taking my son to school. They watched it all unfold on tv so I hurried to work and tuned in. What an awful day that was and still is..Please take a minute and pray not only for the ones that lost family but for the country as a whole. Stick together
