Topic: In Your Eyes | |

We played
we laughed when we were kids. In your eyes so much sparkle, so bright. We grew apart until our teens. Girls were yucky and boys were gross. But, in your eyes curious when seeing the change. Our parents kept us apart, I knew not why. I missed my friend and what I saw in her eyes. As teens, we saw the change. The difference. In your eyes, I saw, a stranger. No longer a child. In your eyes, what I saw made my heart ache. I asked and asked why, what did I see in your eyes that had me hurting and feeling ill. You and your first love, I saw in your eyes what I used to see in mine. TBC |

He broke your heart and you swore
You'll never love again, Leave me alone! I won't come out! I'll stay in here! I just want to die! Red, so red those eyes. One fall morning you came to say, I'm leaving here but, I'll be back some day. Off to school you went. No calls, no letter nor note you sent. I miss you, my friend, Really wanting more. I work and date and wait until, You pull into your yard next door. You can't wait to share the news. You are so in love. You met the man whose swept you out of your shoes. I pretend I am happy and there's no pain. I wish you a great future Filled with light and life. While crumbling inside and feeling much strife. JUST your FRIEND? I cried. Leave me alone! I'll never come out! I'll stay in here til I die! I could never tell her I would never hurt her I want for her what she wants and needs to be content and family with her chosen man. I refuse! I will never be JUST her FRIEND! I will be her trusted friend. I meet Jack He's a most likeable guy. When she looks at him, I see the glow in her eyes. They move away. His job takes them places she's only ever dreamed of. She has her kids. Pictures she sends. I send them gifts on their anniversary. Jack is one fine man. He loves his wife and cherishes his kids. That, I can just imagine is the warmth I would see in her eyes. Years pass, the kids on their own. I go to the airport to give them a ride. I hold her, kiss her cheek. Gently caressing her face With the palms of my hand. Jack, you old dog. Man, you look fit and great for your age. Come here and give this old fart a hug. Not long after, Jack goes ill. She calls, crying, hurting, afraid and alone. He won't last long, so the Doctors say. I have to get back by his side I must stay. Jack had many friends. I can say, I was one. I loved his wife and it bothered him none. He knew she was his. He saw it to. Now she is ill. The cancer has spread. She calls me to come sit on her bed. My good friend, she says. You and Jack loved me I couldn't have asked for more. This life has been good. The smile remains. Her body goes I look into her eyes until the last sparkle fades. |

Thanks ya'll.
This is the first time I ever did this type of thing publicly. I guess, I just busted a cherry? ![]() I would have made changes to the first part. Too repetitive and some fake sounding. In the second part, it was hard to do. I realized, I never grew up with anyone. I always was on the move. Restless. I am still. Just can't roam and investigate. I have my prison til death now. Pills and machines keep me chained within these four walls. Praise GOD, it's paid for and all I have to do is maintain the taxes and utilities. Back to the hard part. I realized, sitting here, I had never experienced growing up with someone, (Peers). Knowing them and keeping in touch throughout our lives. I grieved and welled up telling this fantasy. I cried. There, happy now? It's too late. It will never be. I will die with never having that feeling. That's the bitter part. Sweet is, I am now free. Free to be that friend. Free to love without expectations. The reward and benefit comes with the other returning that to me. Again thanks. |
