Yeah, it sounds alright. I've always quite liked the idea of living somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. Maybe owning a pub or something but not really doing any work or trying to make it into a tourist attraction. I would be like the Basil Faulty of Scotland. That's my dream.

My Question is "Could You Live like that Happily?"

As long as I have somewhere to shag, then definitely.

laugh

I've always dreamed of a good wife, good job, home with that little white picket fence, children and raising them to be good people. You know what Life is supposed to be!! I was told"that was app.the 18 century" no such thing anymore I do have a beautiful Daughter, now living my dreams and 2 grandchildren she has a good husband also!! I really don't think its possible for me to ever live My dreams- but i can see the results through the next generation of my dreams and smile thinking of the woman that could be enjoying it with me. Moral to that story is- always set a goal and you will achieve, Even if you are told "it won't work" sooner or later a dream can come true, even if you can only watch your effort come true!!!

Well, now that you come to say that; my family home is an eighteenth century building and my parents are now living out their retirement there. My grandparents lived there before them and it's in a village where I grew up and spent my youth and it holds a lot of memories for me. My sister and her husband want to build a house on the plot of land that is the back garden and recently the idea of keeping the house instead of selling it and going to live there again after my parents pass on has quite appealed to me. I wanted to get away from all of that small town mentality stuff and build a new life for myself when I moved back to the city seventeen years ago but that hasn't exactly worked out and when I go down to that village to see my parents now I like that feeling of family and community, which I don't really have here.

How about the air space above the property?
laugh I guess nobody can control(air space) as long as its not attached to the ground. But a celltower is different- rights to build can be sold by you and that space brings in a good monthly income and one really big treestand for hunting. ;) :)happy:) :)happy:)

This is a serious observation graywolf, in New York
you have to own the 'air rights' above your own place
to build up to it..someone else can own them and you
are SOL.

You do not say what it costs, so we assume tis within
your budget, but I have to go with Heaven on the space :-)

I'm going to Hillbilly (West Virginia) near where my Daughter lives to look at a piece of property. 10 acres joined by the National Forest on 3 sides. It has a secluded lot with a Home. 1/4acre on one side 2 acres in rear, large front lawn app.7 acres on the other side. It has a right-of-way for utilities but its own power source(large generator) well& septic already! It is landlocked on 3 sides by the National Forest but has permanent right-of-way. It is being handled by a licensed agent, and investigated by my Attorney before purchase! About 7 miles from a small town and app.1&1/2 hours from nearest Bigger Stores. Of course no cell or internet service available!! But i could have a Tower installed (if wanted) helping community.Total seclusion if i choose. Seem at 58 and now living in my Bus(officially unofficially homeless) my topic-i'm not too popular on here and need to get a real home for retiring! Plenty of wildlife to see anyhow! Does this not seem like "Heaven on Earth" or not? At least i will never be alone!! Fishing,Hunting, and Family! happy My Question is "Could You Live like that Happily?"

Oh yes it sounds like .paradise to medrinker I wish you luck in whatever you decide

Where i live now in Va. they are installing a celltower as we speak,The landowner is being paid $1400.00 monthly for land usage ! As for affordable for me there,"easily"! Now its also time for me to rest so goodnight all, And Thank You for your opinion and well wishes See you early when i sign in. ;)

Night night booboo :-)

Also, while being surrounded on 3 sides by national
forest may sound ideal, it has happened here in Oregon,
looks good, then they decide to log, right above your
homestead, guess where the rain water goes?

I have also seen, in California, where a 'beetle' can
decimate an entire forest in no time at all...I would
also check into fire prevention and support, just in case.
