wedding photo ideas needed! I don't want your average, run-of-the-mill engagement and wedding photos taken.

Have any of you shutterbugs or anyone else either taken or seen any unusual photos of couples (now be NICE! **please read the "thread killers" thread, happy **) that you distinctly remember as being just a bit different from the rest?

I need some ideas! Any good web sites you know of that might be of assistance?

Thanks, guys........... flowerforyou

Here are some ideas that flopped out of my head like a wet turd:

A shot of the couple in mid "hop" playing leap-frog, i.e. the man with his legs spread hopping over her with a silly smile. IT WORKS! DO IT!

A shot of each brides maids with their heads on top of each other, with their hands under their heads and over the others. You can do this just with one laying and the rest piling up over each side, it's not as uncomfortable as you might think and the shot can be setup quick, looks cute, and they'll have a blast posing for it.

A shot of the bride holding the groom or otherwise doing something to him in a perspective-play shot, i.e. have him stand far away and her hold out her hand and position the camera so he looks like he's inside her hand.

Have them sit on a log together in an innocent children's love shot (but have it be the bride and groom instead).

Take a row-shot of a few people, use a wide or narrow angle and position them (or your lens) so their bodies and faces are partially showing.

Take a picture of the groom leaning against a wall with one hand and looking at his watch with the other, discombobulated, with the brides maids yacking it up with the bride.

All kinds of silly "tell a story" shots like that seem to work well.

Also silly shots with the bride and groom isolated, i.e. them laying on the ground on their backs looking at each other smiling.

You could also do funny parodies, like have the wedding participants all get together for a group shot and have them do "West siiiede" symbols, etc.

You can also play with perspectives and objects, like take a shot of the groom toasting with the glass way up close to like 20% of the left side of the frame with a wide angle lens.

Also caring candid shots, like the groom and bride holding hands when nobody is looking.

aaaaaaaaaaand I'm spent! smokin

The most beautiful shot I saw of a bride,

was a village courtyard, big old square fountain in the middle, her in the fountain, dress hitched up in her hands laughing, and leaning towards her groom..who with pants rolled up was tip toeing to her as if the water was very cold...in the foreground was their shoes, neatly placed side by side...symbolic and the focus of the shot...

all in black and white...

What kind of a wedding do you plan Whisper? Indoor/outdoor? And if it's an outdoor wedding, what time of day? Must take off for work now, but I will give it some thought.

I did see a wedding shot a couple weeks ago of the bride and groom on a trampoline, what a fun shot.

oh Jess - that shot sounds amazing!!!

Congratulations Whispers...

My favourites are the joyful, having fun ones. My brother and sister-in-law have one I love. Black and white. He is pushing her on a swing and her dress is blowing in the breeze and she is laughing.

I saw another where the groom had climbed a flowering tree . He sat on a branch. She was on the ground next to the tree ... he surprised her by dropping a flower. She is looking up with a surprised smile on her face.

Oh, those are such good ideas! Yes, I love the active ones, as well. Love the swing, fountain, and tree as well as the trampoline ones! Black and white...hmm...I like that, too.

The wedding will be either @ 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Praying for nice weather. It will be an inside wedding, though.

when my cousin got married... they rented a plantation home, and one of the focuses was the balcony. they did shots with the bridal party on the balcony and groomsmen below. and with just bride and groom isolated. and with both parties, with bride and groom peering at each other. also with only one looking at the other. they also did a few where they took out either the bridal party or the groomsmen and left the bride and groom. it was very tastefully done. and at one point they had the groom toss a flower up to her.

Well, of course, Mikey, that was the idea of chosing that day! LOL

Waterfall may be an option since we have one in our area (see my photos). And, Tom loves waterfalls, that's why I had my pic taken there....

Balcony....I'll keep an eye out for one...I like the Romeo and Juliet concept~~~~

Thanks, keep 'em coming.....

My only addition to any of the other ideas mentioned is to sit down with your love and think about the things that make the two of you "you". What sort of things brought you together? What do you love to do together, and what keeps you unique and speical? Incorporate those things into photos as well. Beautiful scenery and amazing lighting only goes so far in front of a fountain, unless somebody dosen't like water! Let your love shine through in any of the pictures and they will be beautiful! Congrats!

Whisper...I have a quirky one for you...riding on SisterShaman's shirt tails...

You and your partner in your wedding finery...with JustSayHi's front page on a monitor screen...both of you sat in chairs, and swung back towards the camera, having the monitor as the main focal point of the shot, to show what you were looking at....holding hands and smiling...
