DULUTH, Ga. - Gwinnett County police say a woman shot and killed an intruder who confronted her in her own home as she got out of the shower on Wednesday morning.

They say the 53-year-old homeowner got out of her shower to discover a man in her bathroom who was armed with a kitchen knife.

Investigators say the woman started hitting him with a shower curtain rod and then told the man not to hurt her, and that she had money in the next room.

According to police, the suspect then forced her into the bedroom, where police believe he planned to sexually assault her. That’s when they say she pulled out a gun and shot the man several times. They say he stumbled out of the house and collapsed in the yard.

The suspect, who was in his 20s, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he later died.

Just wasn't his day.
