More blood, more tears, more knee-jerk rhetoric about finding a solution for a bunch of different problems. Those who knew Aaron Alexis -- the shooter who killed 12 and injured eight more at the Washington Navy Yard this week -- said he was a quiet, shy man. At one point he was studying Buddhism and meditated often. A little more digging, and we find he had several gun-related arrests and a pattern of misconduct in the Navy, but he was honorably discharged. You are correct that there will be a frenzy of nonsensical proposals to end such madness. Those who would like to attack the Second Amendment don't seem to understand what would happen next if miraculously ALL firearms were removed from this country (kinda like Saint Patrick removing all the snakes from Ireland). Anyone else out there been to Iraq or Afghanistan or remember Timothy McVeigh? That is right. Deny these nuts access to firearms and we can expect IEDs to be used instead. MSNBC will tell you "That would never happen here," but anyone with a brain knows better.
Additionally, the Second Amendment is NOT for hunting or home defense, it was included in the Bill of Rights as a defense against TYRANNY: TYRANNY FROM WITHIN OR FROM WITHOUT. G. |

I want those fearfully owned weapons regulated as put in our constitution. Regulate them like we do cars, insurance would be good. A good test of the mental health of the bearer would be good. Yearly exams would be good. Etc... Regulations boys, it WRITTEN IN OUR CONSTITUTION Yea |

They were'nt talking about control! They were talking about well supplied and trained. In those days if you didn't have your gun well maintained and ammo fully stocked, your rucksack ready, or missed a call to arms, you were fined and jailed! They were regulated by "drills and inspections" to ensure they met that criteria to the letter. They didn't "register" because everyone was forced to have them because the populace WAS the militia! This was necessary to defend against a corrupt gov't or foreign power, not for hunting, or even personal defense per-say, but to defend the sovereignty and inhabitants of your state against encroaching powers, foreign or domestic! They even owned cannons because it was required that each militia was armed as well as, or better than, any opposing force that might set upon them! |

It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected.
