It will help SOME get healthcare. The expense will cause some (perhaps many) to lose healthcare that was previously provided causing a decrease in their standard of living by needing to pay for someone else's healthcare.

It will cause a dramatic increase in the overall cost of healthcare and by doing so will hurt the US economy.

And the fact "someone" has to pay for it, under the circumstances that the bill was passed, is sad indeed. I am not sure why you would laugh.

What makes people think no one would have to pay for it anyways is the reason I laughed.

I see people on here laughing about the President and making fun of many things not funny in my opinion. Duh

The US does have a totally free health care provision for low income and persons below the proverty line.

I take you to this site.

http://www.hrsa.gov

The program has been around from many years under our HRSA.

Under HRSA there are 200 facilities in the US, spread across it....
required by law to provide free health care or low cost health care. The 200 facilities are likely in the countries largest cities. So would would like have to access to over 85% of the countries low income and below the proverty line.

The HRSA program covers everything from dental work to heart surgery to elderly care.

I suppose that will get goofed up too with Owawa-Care!

"Experience and the law of unintended consequences suggest the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" will neither protect patients nor make health services affordable. Actual caring will resemble that of the U.S. Postal Service. Services will be rationed and denied in arbitrary manner after long waiting, as in other countries with government health systems. Advocacy groups will institute something like a 'disease-of-the-month-club,' to apply political pressure to cover various conditions. In short, decisions which ought to be made by patients and physicians will instead be made by cold, distant bureaucracies. Switzerland has a market-based system which works. Care there is as good as in the US at 58% of the per capita cost. Such a system was not even considered here, because the goal is government control, not accessible, affordable or quality care."

First question..."You've read the bill?" "Why sure!" you answer. Second question... "Do you understand it?" "Oh sure!" you reply, "what's hard to understand about it? It's all right there in black and white. Uh duh!" whoa

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-111hr3590enr/pdf/BILLS-111hr3590enr.pdf

906 pages for the actual bill that was passed

And while 906 pgs doesn't seem like that much, there are approximately 20,000 pages of regulations to sift through to understand what will be required under the bill, per this article from the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/how-many-pages-of-regulations-for-obamacare/2013/05/14/61eec914-bcf9-11e2-9b09-1638acc3942e_blog.html

noway

It's one thing to say "Sure, I read the bill" and another to say "Yup, I COMPREHEND the bill and the regulations required to meet the standards set by it."

I comprehend that I will never comprehend the absurdity of our government! grumble

Obama Care is not Free!

So many people are under the illusion that Obama Care is going to be virtually free. However, they are dead wrong!
Obama Care is anything but free. In fact, Obama Care is going to be very costly for so many people who cannot afford to pay. First of all, Obama Care system will require all people to pay for health coverage. Even the people who are not employed will have to pay the money they do not have.

Any medical care discounts will come from the millions of tax dollars extracted from poor American citizens who have trouble making ends meet as it is. The worst thing is that if you are not completely poor, your medical care will be more expensive. Therefore, Obama Care will not be affordable for anyone. The poor people cannot pay for it, the middle class cannot pay for it, and the upper class will not pay for it because they will opt for a private insurance with more options. In conclusion, Obama Care will rob people of options and steal their money. There will be no benefit to this system whatsoever.

I would like to see that magic trick... getting blood out of this turnip.

Obamacare will flop.

We're all gonna die.

OK. Sorry you hate to read so much, and while the published versions now look about 900 pages, the version I read back when the bill made its way through the Senate was over 2,000 pages in the usual form. No, I didn't read every single word of the bill. I never said I read every last word. Much of it doesn't really apply to the arguments at hand, and I skimmed over those parts. Other parts refer to previously-published regulations, and I skimmed over those, and did not (nor ever claimed to) check what regulations to which they referred. I'm sure that if you took every last bit of text related to this bill, you'd probably get tens of thousands of pages, like Mitch McConnell's photo:
These same people moan about the tax regulations spanning tens of thousands of pages before sitting down to fill out taxes, and the instructions are only about four pages long, including the full paragraph telling you how to enter your names in the little boxes.

It's not that hard. Really.

It's not that hard to comprehend. It's basically the same thing the Republicans and Swiss came up with, before. I don't see President Obama worrying about it too much, nowadays. Also, the mess with Syria now is that the reports came back from Syria reporting that the information shows Syrian government forces used chemical weapons. Months or years after some other reports. That's a topic for another thread, though.
