Topic: CHAMPAGNE, JETS AND DOLLARS | |

From what I've seen online, people don't seem to like Nigerians very much, and that's not because we are losers.
There are a large number of good Nigerian professionals working in Nigeria and dispersed around foreign countries. You don't get to see them or hear of them because they are very private people; they don't use dating sites and they don't send scam mail. How many doctors, lawyers, engineers or other professionals from Europe, USA or South Africa use these sites? Very few, I believe. Nigerians are the most educated Africans in the USA. We are not poor. Next to France, Nigeria is the highest importer of luxurious champagne. Also, next to China, we are the highest purchasers of luxury private jets. In addition, the world's richest black man and woman are Nigerians. They did not make their fortunes in foreign countries. Not too long ago, Nigerians were courted like Arabs by the West. And even now, they poach our young, luring them to western schools and universities, where they spend about $1b annually. When the portuguese came to trade; we welcomed them. Then the British came to colonize; most of us did not resist them. When the Lebanese fought a war, we gave them refuge. Liberia, Serria Leone and Kosovo, we assisted. Equitorial Guinea too. Even the USA received aid from Nigeria after Hurricane Katrina. We were in the forefront of the battle against apartheid and gave South Africans refuge during those dark years; and supported the MPLA in the Angolan civil war and their fight for independence. Currently, our troops are in Mali. Like the American dream, there are opportunities for every one here. Our current president grew up without shoes in the same country where I was chauffeur driven and wore shoes to school. We may have bad managers but no one is better than us. Although, unfortunately, we have 80million poor; we also have 80million people who are not...and that is much larger than the population of many countries. So, I could be popping 'Dom Perignon Rose' in my private luxury Boeing 767-430 before this thread closes! Believe.... |

Heeeeey,
No sharing that Dom Perignon??? Am thirsty! My dear,i have a 7yr long friendship with a Hausa gentle man,one of the kindest, sweetest men i've ever known! He's an engineer and heads the humanitarian department in a global aid organisation..... So,when it comes to people,i try to stay away from generalising! Altho, Nigeria has some of the smartest people i know! Too smart-most times, not knowing what to do with it!! You'd do well giving some countries a bit of that people smarts! |

The Europeans sent their 'smart' (bad) guys away to new colonies when they cleaned out their societies. Someone please tell Richard Branson and his friends that we have the human material to start a new mars colony. |

Btw, I also know that Nigeria and South Africa are the first in Africa to monitor own space by own satelite....built by their own?!!! Ghana following suit soonest-2016!! So,you dont need to beg Branson, just do more oil and Branson et al will come crawling on all fours-begging for biz space!! That is,if you dont have many thieves like we do here in Ug!! |

I think the Chinese have a lot to do with one satellite. We should give them the credit.
The BH issue is a sad reality. Those are some of the people we need to send away. We had Virgin-Nigeria but things didn't quite work out between Branson and the authorities. What I think we need is Virgin Galactic. We've got candidates for mars colony... ...And places to cool off under the exhilarating tropical sun. |

Not Victoria island??
Eeeeeeeeeh,HF, i see GJ is doing some actual response to the madness thats happenning in those 3 states??? Why are Naijas opposing it?? I say, clamp down already.......why the madness anyway?? Ha ha haaaaaaa.....leave the Virgins out of it! Btw, You have any bit of Virgin left or all gone and dusted?? Poor Branson..... |

It's not africans who are at fault, it's their government, for not helping them enough. I suppose if Nelson Mandella keeps falling ill, then no wonder he can hardly get anything done. Maybe I should ship him some anti-biotics over. At least then he'd be able to get things in order :)

I wonder if they actually know what anti-biotics are? Just because one gets free medical care doesn't make you a health worker or a representative of WHO. I hear them say "if you aint informed you are deformed". |
