The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers.

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack.

More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.

“They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”

A specialist team of CIA and FBI interrogators was yesterday flown to a Boston hospital to grill wounded Dzhokhar, 19, about the secret group. The University of Massachusetts student was caught on Friday after hiding out in a boat parked in a garden in locked down Watertown the day after a gun battle with police left his 26-year-old brother and a rookie cop dead.

I cannot wait to hear the reasons why the FBI determined the older brother had no ties to extremism.

I find it strange that the Russians would name him as a terror suspect, turn that over to the FBI and them not noticing him leaving the country for 6 months on a trip to the most unsettled terrorist haven in the Caucasus region..

Not to mention the fact that they lied initially saying they had no idea who he was and then the mother comes out and blows their story.

Are you listening hunters? I know many hunters prefer to hand load their hunting cartridges to really dial in the accuracy of their rifles. Well, doing that could become more cumbersome and more expensive if Senator Lautenberg has his way.

The senator is introducing legislation that would require the sale of gunpowder of all types to be subject to a background check during the purchasing process.

Obviously, this will raise the price of gunpowder and make ordering online nearly impossible.

Currently, a person may have 50lbs of black powder on hand. This is an amount that would be appropriate for shooters who like to reload their own ammo to save money and create more accurate cartridges.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In the wake of the deadly bombing attacks in Boston, U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today announced that he will reintroduce legislation he has proposed in a prior Congress to require that sales of explosive powder be subject to a background check. He will also file the legislation as an amendment to the gun violence prevention bill currently on the Senate floor.

Current law allows an individual to purchase as much as 50 pounds of explosive “black powder” without a background check, and also permits an individual to purchase unlimited amounts of dangerous “smokeless powder” and “black powder substitute” without a background check. Sen. Lautenberg’s proposal would change that and require a background check for any purchase of these explosive powders. These powders can be used as the explosive material in assembling pipe bombs, used in the Columbine school shooting, and pressure cooker bombs, which may have been used in the recent Boston attack.

“It is outrageous that anyone, even a known terrorist, can walk into a store in America and buy explosives without any questions asked,” said Senator Lautenberg. “If we are serious about public safety, we must put these common-sense safeguards in place. While the police have not revealed what specific explosive materials were used in Boston, what we do know is that explosive powder is too easy to anonymously purchase across the country.”

Lautenberg will introduce the “Explosive Materials Background Check Act,” which will:

* Require a background check to purchase black powder, black powder substitute, smokeless powder, or any other explosive, in any quantity;
* Provide the Attorney General with the authority to stop the sale of explosives when a background check reveals that the applicant is a known or suspected terrorist and the Attorney General reasonably believes that the person may use the explosives in connection with terrorism; and
* Make it illegal to manufacture homemade explosives without a permit.

Lautenberg introduced a similar proposal in 2003 as part of his “Homeland Security Gun Safety Act of 2003.” Current law does not require an individual to produce a permit, identification or undergo a background check when purchasing up to fifty pounds of black powder. To make matters worse, no permit or background check is required for the purchase of any quantity of black powder substitute or smokeless powder. Current explosives laws also do not prevent the manufacture of homemade explosives without a license, unless the manufacturer is “engaged in the business” of making explosives.

In October 2010, Sen. Lautenberg released a report, “Firearms, Explosives and Terrorists – A Looming Threat – A Major U.S. Vulnerability,” examining the dangers posed to the United States by terrorism attacks using explosives. The report points to the Mumbai attacks and attempted bombing in Times Square, as demonstrating the interest and ability of terrorists to launch attacks in the United States using explosives.

What is it with this Hickups?

This alleged terrorist does have answers of some kind. Who has been paying their day to day bills? Takes money to survive.
I find it hard to believe these two kids were not supplied and trained by a person(s) who is overall resonsible for this. Let's hope the kid makes it and is able to provide information.

we have a million questions, and those questions need to be answered.

most who believe in conspiracy theories will do so if and when they want to vilify the target of their animosity. Although there is some validity to some conspiracys, simply because the hearts of men are filled with the desires that inspire conspiracy. However most who cling to certain conspiracys are quite selective. If you say the goverment was behind 911, its absurd, yet the same ones who say "no, our goverment wouldnt do such a thing, will then claim another conspiracy theory more in lined at their train of thought. The fact is men in power put the devil to shame, in fact, the devil is jealous of mans proneness at diabolical conspiring.

It is better to be a conspiracy theorist, then a conspiracy denier. Conspire is what men do baby. All day. Power has its birth in conspiracy.

We Have Right To Know Truth!

I havent read where the FBI has actually said much of anything to the public about it really. And perhaps the reason they didnt have much on Tamerlan is because there was not much to find. We are the country that allows religious freedom so his religion alone was not reason for them to search very deeply. Also his trips abroad to a country where family was living was not enough to really dig deep. They investigated where they could with the suspicion of Russian intelligence, but like WMDs, they found nothing. PErhaps they decided to err on the side that nothing was there instead of risk more failed intelligence costing them an uproar in the religious community ....

I am still baffled by this, not drawn to conspiracy theories, but suspicious about the details provided,,,,like how it is possible to be 'throwing bobms' unless they are grendades? Where were they keeping all these things when they were running and how do we know those details are accurate and how do we know which brother was doing what ,,,,,,,,just alot of unanswered questions that I find discouraging but consider more a functionof police force (they have planted guns on people before, so they sometimes can give the reports that fit their actions and give them legality)

I can believe the older brother was involved deeply, I just am not sure about the details being given since there are no actual witnesses to the chase or the capture.
