It has been my experience that a lot of people ask your opinion to help validate what they want to do. It has served me well to follow up their question with, ' do you want to hear my opinion or do you want to hear what you want to hear?'
Most are forth coming in telling me which they prefer at which time I :
1. Give my honest opinion and why, as tactfully as possible or
2. Give them the response they want to hear or
3. Tell them this is something I can't co-sign on so I'm going to keep to myself

Good point, I'm thinking from what iv'e read so far. Tell women whatever they'd like to hear, and be honest with men. The people get what the people want.

Although some women talk about their guys mistakes not all of them do.
Talking about someone ripping you off, and some guy being a jerk are 2 different things. If someone rips me off i will hide my purse from them, no matter if they give it back or not, because this establishes a lack of training and boundries.

What if the person in question that rips you off, Gives you a song and dance routine. About how they needed to feed their children and how tearfully apologetic they are? That they'll never do it again. If they get on a woman's soft side she might just change her opinion of the perp. I have seen it happen in different circumstances.

Stick with the truth or shut up and often the later is the greater valor. Besides the truth is easier to remember and people know when tney are asking you to lie to them so you are cutting your own credibility to shreads as well as hurting their feeling that you don't respect them enough to be honest of smart enough to know when to say nothing. Refuseing to be baited by someone to say something you don't need to say is making them choose their own punishment of you ignoreing them.

OK lets be honest here...if it is one of my friends and they asked me if they looked fat in something, I would tell them the truth. If they look fat, I say lets find something that is more slimming for you. We have this "rule" that we would never let the other one go out looking fat..LOL we tell each other the truth. BUT we do it in a nice way to where we are not going to hurt each others feelings. But afterwards we both laugh and they say, I looked bad in that didn't I...then I say OH HELL YES!!! Then we chuckle and let it go. This is what you call true friendship!!!!
If I asked my boyfriend if I looked fat (when I had one) and if he would have said yes....I would have just taken off my clothes and put on my pj's and stayed home. It is so different if a man tells you or your girlfriend. So you just have to be careful who it is and how you say it!!!
