Here in Hawaii we have cain spiders that sometimes like to come into the house. They're huge, super fast, and honestly a bit freaky to encounter. They look like anorexic tarantulas. The one in my bathroom that startled me tonight has the leg span of the diameter of a tuna fish can at least. I decided to leave him be, or actually her in this case, because they eat the insects in the house like roaches or any bugs really. They can bite I've read, but I've never heard of anyone getting bit ever. They are just as afraid of people as we are of them and run away quickly if confronted. So, I have a new pet it seems. Still want to take that vacation to Hawaii?!? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heteropoda_venatoria |

Yea, I'll leave her be as long as she doesn't pop out all the time and scare the crap out of me while I'm in the bathroom. I'll catch her and let her out if it comes to that. These things don't have webs and are very very fast! They hide most of the time but come out at night to hunt.
I found a couple of videos on YouTube to give you an idea of what they look like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlbrW55xgX8 This second one is hilarious and shows you how much hysteria cain spiders can create because they are so large and fast. Poor spider got the raid can from these freaked out girls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USi7TseryOE |

The only spiders I have a phobia of are black widows and especially the brown recluse - very nasty bite that can kill.

So I always left them alone....of course they were but the size of my fingernail.... |

Best thing I have ever seen for pest control; ORTHO HOME DEFENSE.
Safe around pets & kids, lasts till the rain washes it away. Spray base boards, hidden cornors, around windows & doors. Natural bug defense, cedar chip; make small bags from old nylons & hang behind curtains or anywhere. Change chips at least twice a year. Makes house smell like cedar. |

I'm not that afraid of spiders but cain spiders do give me the heebie-jeebies a bit. Hopefully we can live peacefully together. I just got back from taking a leak and I didn't see her. I guess she's found a good hiding spot. Cain spiders are alright, it's the centipedes here I hate with a passion |

When I come across a spider it depends on my mood to how I handle it. Sometimes I’ll get an empty plastic kool-aid container, catcher it and take it out side. Other times I will smash or my cat will play with it.
Now I did wake up one night and felt a spider crying across my leg. I shook the spider of my leg over the edge of the bed. |

I take a piece of tissue and squish spider. I have had several spider bites that swell up and do not go away quickly. I have scars on my legs from the bites. Also, they are very very itchy.

You know what is scarier than a spider you see in your house?
A spider that disappears in your house. |
