There's a batch of chili I make from time to time that I affectionately call, "Uncle Christopher's Disreputable Five Bean Sinus Clearing Mouth Burning Taste Bud Numbing Lip Blistering Chili w/Bourbon". I'll be right over. Ever entered it in a chili cook-off? I've won a couple of times with mine. Only two kinds of beans (red and black; what do you use?) but meat both ground and in chunks, with homegrown peppers including jalapenos and habaneros, along with store-bought anchos. I tend like things hot. Haven't tried adding bourbon, but I've been known to use a nice robust ale as part of my liquid. |

Did somebody mention salad? And tropical plants?

I like either romaine or iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, cherry tomatoes, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, shredded hard boiled eggs and shredded onions and nothing else on my salads. Croutons okay.

I'm with Topher... give me a Caesar salad with chicken. Or basically, a Casear salad with whatever added... salmon, steak, crab, whatever.

I had homemade soup for lunch (chicken-corn-potato-cheese chowder) and need to eat something light (maybe the half-serving of leftover curry?) before I go to a meeting tonight. I'll be eating after that with people from the meeting... no idea what on that either, though. Too chilly right now to want salad, even though I have the stuff to make it.

Chili without beans? Isn't that like salad without lettuce?

Rice with chicken and vegetables.

I did get my chicken Caesar salad after the meeting, and then one of my friends glanced at it and said, "What are you eating? That looks delicious!" I don't think I've ever heard anyone get that excited about salad before, heheh.
Oh, and Cajun chicken on the salad -- even better! |
