Got a favorite dish you'd like to tell us about? Have a recipe to share? Want to wax ecstatic about your favorite restaurant? Or even just mention what you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner? This is the place!
I'm making curried chicken and spinach tonight, adapting this recipe to what I have on hand in the kitchen: http://www.fussfreecooking.com/meat-recipes/spinach-chicken-curry/ |

There's a batch of chili I make from time to time that I affectionately call, "Uncle Christopher's Disreputable Five Bean Sinus Clearing Mouth Burning Taste Bud Numbing Lip Blistering Chili w/Bourbon".

There's a batch of chili I make from time to time that I affectionately call, "Uncle Christopher's Disreputable Five Bean Sinus Clearing Mouth Burning Taste Bud Numbing Lip Blistering Chili w/Bourbon". I'll be right over. Ever entered it in a chili cook-off? I've won a couple of times with mine. Only two kinds of beans (red and black; what do you use?) but meat both ground and in chunks, with homegrown peppers including jalapenos and habaneros, along with store-bought anchos. I tend like things hot. Haven't tried adding bourbon, but I've been known to use a nice robust ale as part of my liquid. |

I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at my place a couple of years ago. That was a lot of fun. No, I have never entered a chili cook-off. I ought to try your jalapenos and habaneros idea. |

I make a good home made stew. EDIT: Noooooo it is not mule stew. Oh durn, if it was I'd be there right away. You'd probably like this. Celery, green beans, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, onions with ground beef in a V8 / water 50-50 base. |

Okay, so I now have simmering on the stove a mixture of:
Sliced chicken breast meat (2 breasts, decent-sized ones - and y'all can get'cher minds out of the gutter unless you're willing to make room for me) Coarsely chopped spinach Coarsely chopped onion Chopped red bell pepper Little bit of spiced ale for liquid (because it was handy, and I wanted to drink the rest) Couple tablespoons of butter About a half-cup of Greek yogurt (these are the only two things I've got anything like measurements on this time) Curry powder, garlic, cumin, black pepper, turmeric, paprika and some sriracha sauce. I'll add garam masala powder when it's nearly done. The house smells lovely and I can't wait to eat. |

Drat; I'm out of brown rice. Dilemma: Eat it with white rice, or just forego the rice and make salad?
Ah well, at least it's only a minor glitch. |
