Newtown School Board Agrees With NRA, Seeks Armed Guards in Schools


It's been almost two months since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, and gun control has dominated political discourse as a possible solution.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), however, proposed another solution — the National School Shield program — which aimed to put armed security in all schools. Gun control advocates immediately criticized and dismissed the proposal, saying that the solution to our nation's gun problems is not more guns in schools.

Apparently the Newtown school board disagrees with gun control advocates, as they have now requested funding for additional police officers to be assigned to its four elementary schools. The irony is that school resource officers are already prevalent in many public schools across the U.S., as nearly half of them already have school resource officers. This is not a new idea, as it was introduced under the COPS program that was established under President Clinton's administration in 2000.

According to a report by the Department of Justice, under the COPS program, we know that putting police officers in schools does reduce violent crime in those schools as well as provide a feeling of safety and security for students and faculty. The report also outlines the many other advantages of having a school resource officer on site at schools.

During Vice President Joe Biden's most recent fireside chat, Biden was confronted with the statistics on why the original Federal Assault Weapons Ban did not work to reduce violent crime, to which he responded that the reduction of violent crime could be attributed to putting more police officers on the streets, alluding to the very same COPS program. In addition, included in President Obama's list of executive orders was an order to provide more funding and incentives for schools looking to employ school resource officers.

So why exactly was there such criticism for the NRA's proposal to put armed security in every school to protect our children? Perhaps gun control advocates have been blinded so much by their ideology and aversion to the NRA that any solution being offered by the NRA should be immediately discredited, even if the proposed solution is the same solution proposed by gun control advocates. Where is the ideological consistency here?

Could it be that the primary concern for gun control advocates is not so much the safety of our nation's schools or society, but promoting their ideology and discrediting their political opposition even if their opposition is proposing the very same solutions that they are?

We should take note that the NRA and Wayne LaPierre are right when they say that we should focus on what works instead of failed gun control policies that don't work. For some gun control advocates it seems that school and public safety is not their goal. Their goal is to demonize guns, gun owners, and the NRA, and it is time to call them on it.

After seeing the National Geographic special,"Guns in America" and reading this post, I'm wondering, seriously, has anyone advocated the arming of the students in all schools, if not, why not..?

Real solutions are not created by law, only physical actions.

A politician is the last person you would call if you had a dangerous animal in your back yard, why would we ever think they could fix an issue like this?

Today a customer was telling me about their personal business: he runs a small computer service fixing technology for home users.

He said he his wife came up with a labeling system for customers so that when "special" customer called she and her husband would be prepared.

He described some users that would literally catalog every single thing that either bothered them, gave them problems, or just seemed like it should be different and would do nothing to fix it themselves or even learn about it enough to know if it really was a problem.

The files for this group of people were labeled H&H.

Hypersensitive, and Helpless.

The reason for labeling this group explicitly was because if you try to use logic, reason, or explain why something was not a problem you would end up regretting having tried to show them vs just listen to them complain about it, or commiserate about the shared inability to change it . . .

I believe that those that feel firearms only belong in the hands of police and military are H&H.

They are so disconnected from what it takes to actually navigate the problem that only commiseration, sympathy, and pity are seen as appropriate, or make up rules which you expect everyone else to follow without doing anything to actually make it happen.

So police and professional guards have been mentioned.

How do you leap to arming kids from that?

See, it is this kind of dishonest approach that keeps anyone from achieving anything of value.

If it doesn't fit your agenda, lie.

I'm sorry to report that in Colorado there are several bills about background checks for gun purchases and other bills that are being introduced. Where in hell are these people coming from? Its as if they were all waiting to pounce at just the right time.

Okay lets take an inventory at what is happening.

1. L.A. police brutality leads to one cop going rogue. (L.A. police have always been brutal, beating up any suspect, even pregnant ladies for speeding.)-- Chicago police are the same, who know where else police have become bullies instead of protectors of the people.

2. Disarming of regular citizens has begun with gun control legislation popping out all over the place.

3. The Pope has resigned, and a new Pope is about to be elected.

4. The Vatican has called for the establishment of a "global public authority" and a "central world bank" to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises.

.. It looks like the pace towards world domination and the New World Order is being hastened.

The Elite are running out of time. There seems to be some kind of deadline in place .... for world domination.

All responsible school kids should find one of these under the Christmas Tree.

Today on our own local news:

A meeting with a Colorado Senator about foreclosures was dominated by over 50 people who wanted to express their opinions against the gun legislation that is now being placed before the senators, who seem to be pretty clueless about the bills and have not even read them.

These people are voicing their opinions and one guy said to the cameras that if these gun laws were passed they DID NOT INTEND TO ABIDE BY THEM because they are unconstitutional.

GOOD FOR THEM.

I would really like to know where all these bills suddenly came from. Who writes these things? The people DO NOT WANT NEW GUN LEGISLATION.

They will not stand for it.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, a city with strict gun control continues to experience lots of gun violence.

Then later that night, the Media... had a feature on women and how they are buying more guns, and they had a story about this woman who shot one of three home invaders with her gun and scared them off. They also had a gun.

She said her fear is that even if she called 911, they might not get there in time.

She was probably right.

It is refreshing to see something on television that reflects more than just one side of the gun control issue. People are against this new legislation on gun control and they are coming out of their bunkers to protest.
