Many people are here for the forums or for friends they have made along the way. If they want to stick around, what's the harm? But this is not strictly a dating site. Many use it for dating and many use it for friends.

I understand what your saying but you missed the point if you looking for friend why use a dating site ,when people are looking for relationships ...Unless you can creat categories within the site itself.....Sinc we are on the subject of categories how about a challenge Iwould like to date 50 or older why is 90% of this age group allways show last sign in has been over a month and you know thats a fact why not show that time frame before we enter and wasting time for hours of nobody apparently not coming back to the site..

like some others have already mentioned.. many friendships are made on the forums.. some of us have actually met in real life and hung out, on several occasions, together.. I've even met a guy on this site that I dated awhile.. but it's the fun I have interacting with the different people here that keep me coming back.. some move on and others return.. it's a cool place to hang out and I'm comfortable.. like an old shoe.. and who knows.. although not in a rush.. I just may meet someone that I'll click with

I think you missed my point. This isn't a strictly dating site. That is why we have more options to put on the profiles than just dating. Friendship is one of them

Maybe they haven't logged in because they are busy or have met someone. The site leaves it up to members to deactivate or not. But this, also, doesn't include those in stealth mode where you won't see a last seen on the profile

I like your comment you are kind and sincere about your answer that says alot about you.And helps me understand why some people are on here....but as i exspected some were very defensive over this simple question...But most had some descent logical answers.....

I guess we should make this like "Logan's Run" and when we hit a certain amount of time, we explode/implode and no more wasting space on the site!!!

By your statement of only giving a site two years, who's to say the woman of your dreams won't join in 735 days???? Then you would have missed out by not wanting to stick around and chat with people you may have become....gasp ....friends with.

Can't speak for others but I initially came here looking for a relationship. Got on the forums to just talk to people as I felt down that no one wanted to date me. These people on Mingles are very supportive and gave me a lot to think about. Along the way; I met some good friends and I enjoy having the discussions on the forums. Like many I gave up on dating but not because of Mingles; even in my non-cyber life; no one wants to date me and I accept that but eventhough I have deactived this account a few times; I keep coming back here. These people here on Mingles have a special place in my heart and are family to me.

Great point about Mingle though - a lot of you are good, funny, down-to-earth people, and I too enjoy e-coming to the forums. I have already made a good friend or two that I have met in person all the way here in Okinawa, and it was because of this site.

At the end of the day (my patented phrase) to each his or her own. Some are here looking for some manko and/or ching-ching, others to make friends, and even more others because its a great way to cope with life. On that note, life's a challenge, but we have to keep on living it. Have fun whilst you do it is yet another one of MY phrases.
