A new dramatic television series will feature not one, but seven different alien races.

Defiance is the title of this 12-episode drama coming to SyFy. As Entertainment Weekly reports, here is the official synopsis of the show:

Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully. Each week, viewers will follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, MO, while in the game, players will adventure in the new frontier of the San Francisco Bay area. The dramatic tapestry of the series and the intense action of the game will exist in a single universe where their respective narratives will inform one another and evolve together into one overall story.

SyFy announced on Monday, January 7 that Defiance will premiere with a two-hour debut on Monday, April 15 at 9 p.m.

G vs. E!

Such an underrated show!

LOVED THIS SHOW!!!

Way too shortlived, barely lasted a season. I remember fans had a petition going to bring it back, but it sadly didn't happen.

It's especially great for the older shows, when they rerun on TV today they're edited to make more room for commercials. TV Land butchers the shows they air, I was amazed at how much so when I watched Leave It To Beaver on DVD. Plus, British shows are censored when they air on BBCAmerica, so with the DVDs everything is left intact. I also love watching shows on Netflix instant- last night I started watching the British sitcom Black Books, it's about a grumpy books store owner that hates everyone including his customers. It stars Dylan Moran who played David in Shaun Of The Dead.

I prefer some the older series' too.. what is AWEsome is when you can get an entire series on DVD for pennies.. I'm always looking at deals on buys.. often I've gotten the whole series for $10/season brand new.. cheaper than a night at the movies.. AWEsome..

I grew up surrounded by british humor but don't really find ALL their stuff funny.. Shaun of the Dead WAS funny.. but my all time fave will ALWays be............... everything Monty Python

Battlestar Galatica w/Edward James Olmos:thumbsup:

They need to do more true sci-fi, and get away from the horror though.

They changed the spelling from Scifi to SyFy so they could do more than just science fiction. At least that's what was said on the 20th Anniversary Special.

Oh yeah, I love their other movies too, and TV show. And Terry Gilliam would go on to become one of my favorite directors.

Nice, Excalibur is excellent.

When Monty Python first came on TV, my immediate first thought was "Oh Thank God, I'm no longer alone!"rofl
Also loved the British humour shows like Dave Allen, but for Sci-Fi, I prefer it to be for adults; rough, 'nitty-gritty' like the re made series Battlestar Galactica, and not for and by juveniles like the original series. Generally liked the X Files but preferred Babylon Five over all. Would have liked Cowboys and Aliens better, I think if Quentin Tarrantino had made the film, or the director that did Terminator. I loath the so called 'Gene Roddenberry' universe as a tech crazed sappy outlook with all spaceships returning to home for supper; like a mix of the Jetsons and Leave it to Beaver shmaltz. Give me Alien anyday or the latest installment of Prometheus; nothing sappysweet there and no 'juvenile scripts'.

I think I've watched everything they've ever done.. brilliant.. bloody brilliant stuff..

as for the sci-fi.. I enjoyed the X File as well.. we didn't get many TV stations growing up so I did watch the original Roddenberry series.. I actually enjoyed the STNG series as the technology aspect fed a part of my brain that craved 'advancement' in anything related to space, travel, the future.. but for some reason could never really got into the Galactica remade series, however much I enjoyed the original one.. DS9 well, wasn't much of an interest either(at this point it kinda seemed like overkill).. yet agree with you on Babylon Five, definitely more my tastes..
