So true and nicely stated. This would also be a good answer for the "full length pictures" post...

Ok so here goes. Everybody likes to be sooooo high in the equanimity quotient. They like to say, all that stuff doesn't matter. You can be tall, short, fat, thin, rich, poor, beautiful, plain, smart, dull, smelly, sweet, whatever. None of that matters so long as you have the right heart. Its the inside that matters. But if that were entirely true people would marry the first person they met who had a good personality, which pretty much never happens. So whenever I hear this stuff I have to think that someone is being at least a little bit disingenuous.
Almost nobody has no concern for any of these things related to a person's appearance. I am going easy here because the topic is so complex, but generally I would say that people like to appear as if they treat everyone equally where mate selection is concerned, but the reality is different. Do I get the raspberry here or is anybody else giving this a real consideration? |

I agree with you philospher.
People will always have preferences. People are so different. Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder, I truly believe that. |

I agree philosopher
we are all sifferent--not everyone is going to be atracted to the same physical or other stuff. does that make them wrong? does that make them shallow? no, just like we are all different, it is a good thing we have different taste. |

I agree

I didn't really see him as saying that no physical etc. attributes mattered- I thought he was just saying- don't limit your ideas of beauty so much- especially if they are based on what TV, etc. has taught you to like.
I think physical attributes always matter- but for me personally the sound of a persons voice can be as important, if not more so, than the color of their eyes. So again, we are all different. As far as smell goes- well personal hygiene is entirely different- controllable- and VERY IMPORTANT!!!! |

thank you anoasis, you are correct there are people that are just not attractive to one another, but to discount someone right away because they are heavy or a different color, etc.. is just narrow minded. And yes personality is VERY important, I wouldn't date Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, or any of those other vapid starlets.

if you are not aracted to someone who is heavy, a different color, or has brown hair, etc why is hat different than not being attracted to someone who has the attitude of thinking he/she is beautiful or conceited??
to discount someone right away because of their attitude or personality is just as narrow minded as discounting them right away for their physical. why is it narrow minded?? not the same thing, however when you go to a restraunt do you keep ordering liver even though you know that is not to your liking..but in hopes that maybe it will be different? if you are not attracted to someone who is asian-- why waste their time to pretend it might be different? jus because someone has likes and dislikes...does NOT make them WRONG! we all have our own. |
