In discussion with male friends regarding old girlfriends, it came up that a "good personality" was very important; if fact a good personality could take a woman from a C grade to an A grade. No one could define a "good personality", until I butted in with "it sounds like a good personality is someone who is willing to put up with you"; to this they all had to agree.

What is your definition of a good personality?

that does sound like what I'd expectlaugh from the guys

but who told your male friends someone is "putting up" with them. It is more like someone who enjoys being with them and vice versa. I look at qualities in my male friends rather than past boyfriends because there's more objectivity there. Maybe your buds could do the same.....I know I deserve better than "someone who is willing to put up with me" and so do they:heart: flowerforyou

"Good". It sounds worse and worse when you say it. It's like... one of those words you only need to say twice and it completely loses its meaning.

But, um... good personality. Interesting personality? Somebody that challenges you while also accepting your current limitations? I guess that would fall under simple compassion and empathy. Maybe it just means that the person doesn't suck at being a human.

I think you are right, personality does play a large part in being attractive. A lady who can hold a good conversation, is warm hearted, has a sense of humour, and can laugh with others about them and themselves, I find particularly attractive.

Hummm well to me if I'm with someone one of the requirements is they must have a good personality.

To me a good personality it one you can joke around with and have fun. They are not all business, they know how to separate work from their personal life. They have learned to laugh at things in life that comes their way.. not a stick in the mud... And can still let the kid side come out and play.... They dont' get all huffy when others are joking with them... they not only can take a joke but dish it out as well...bigsmile

A sense of humor can make one shine....

In my opinion a good personality is something being down to earth.. And even if you cant help others just dont try to hurt them..:-)

To me, it is easier to spot a bad personality than it is to figure out if someone has a good personality.

Then why does the phrase, "she has a good personality" strike fear in the hearts of men?

what men does it strike fear in?

it used to be an old joke that if a woman did not ahve physical attractiveness people would say she had a "good personality" as tho attractive and personality were somehow mutually exclusive
