I hate LDRs grumble
butttt tongue2

Yep. When you meet someone you feel chemistry with, all your "rules" go out the window.

You guys did it the right way. Met in person with no expectations and let it flow naturally from there.

I'm very happy for you both. flowerforyou
thank you Ruth

with the modern world nowadays with modern technology.. is long distance relationship is more possible to work now?

Modern technology allows people to see each other's faces no matter how far apart they are, but the technology does not permit people to physically touch each other when they are apart from each other.

For a romantic relationship to work, two people have to be able to give each other physical affection. When such physical affection is lacking for a long time, the relationship begins to break down.

I agree!

Sentiments apart please... I want to believe LDR can work considering the fact that "Matured minds" ADULTS are in it here. What is important is building an understanding and trust in a quality relationship starting with Friendship which allows either parties to get to know themselves well enough, what they want in the union before any further emotional commitments.
Above all I prefer single parents other than someone that had never been married!
Thank you

I learn this long distance relationship are possible but consider this: Deception is not deception unless deception works.

I
get how trust MIGHT be an issue for some, but it certainly isn't the
reason why many other long distance relationships don't work. It depends how
willing they both are.

There are always exceptions (there's a few examples on this site), but in general, LDRs don't work! Sure, with things like instant messaging, video chat, texting, free long distance calls, etc it ups the chances greatly, but more often than not distance takes it toll and everything breaks down. Over the years I've been in a few LDRs and every time distance ended up being the major cause for the failure. I'd rather stick my head in a vise, tighten it till my skull cracks, then have somebody cover me in leeches and set me on fire before I try another one!

No. Until they actually invent teleporters.... long distance romances will never work.

love your optomism

really I don't give them the best chance either unless both partners go into it at the start realizing that eventually one of them is going to have to relocate and both need to be willing to consider it and both need to be willing to travel occasionally until they relocate. so not everyone is going to be an ideal candidate for an LDR.

also from the start both need to realize that they really will not know if things are even worth considering until they have met at least once.
