Since they can't have the land they sit on, I hope the president addresses those who signed the petitions with a peaceful option to denounce their citizenship and move out of the country peacefully.

They don't own their states, the US does.

WRONG!

Secession is just that! The gov't owns nothing it didn't steal and to secede takes away their priviledge to even consider that!

The people join the union, not the land!

than those states have been compliant in that stealing,,,so its irrelevant

unless they wish to go back to the 'original' inhabitants (or their ancestors) and get the permission to make their own state on the land

there are 'federal' lands which belong to all of america and not just the state they are geographically located in

Im not sure how such land would be handled in a 'secession' and whether the rest of the US would have to agree as opposed to statesmen,,,

Federal anything only applies under the union clause. Secession revokes any federal claim going either way.

The states are not franchises, they are charters, independant groups forming a whole. To leave that body is to remove the limb....completely! That is not to say treaties can not be made, but as with the indian nations, we know how well the gov't honors treaties.....

The gov't can not provide anything the states are not capable of providing for themselves. It actually makes the the states more capable of providing for their own, rather than a central state or body thinking it knows what's best for someone in a particular situation.

The gov't levies taxes on the states of the union (fed tax), the gov't spends that money (under it's constitutional guidelines...hahahahahahaha) to provide by the provisions of the constitution to promote general welfare, provide for the common defense and insure domestic tranquility (A job they have failed at by over stepping their authority thanks to the federal reserve, bankers and corporate cronyism in that gov't).

The gov't owns NOTHING but what it steals or has been granted the power over under that contract. Secession revokes the contract, thereby removing that authority.

which is why secession is far from simple or simply a matter of state wishes,,,,,

Wrong, silly.

Check it out if you don't believe me. Imminent domain. All the president has to do is say the land is needed by the federal government and pay the people a pence or two if he is nice enough.

The land belongs to the feds.

States can't just take it when they want it. Nor can people.

And if the people are hostile it will make it easier for him and congress to commander it for National Security reasons...lol

You don't think congress would go with him on this?

Of course they will.

Why would a country give up any of it's land without it being torn from their dead fingers? Which won't happen here as the feds fingers are too big to be killed.

The land belongs to the feds. They let us use it, even pretend we own it on occasion, but it is theirs.

So secession means that the citizens denounce their citizenship and leave. That is all it means.

There are people out there who have to have a knock in the head to learn anything new. If the government has to knock a few heads, which they can do easily, like with the Occupiers, then so be it, I suppose. They had to knock heads during the civil rights movement to get some hard heads to treat other humans with a little sense.

It is sad really....

You can wave the flag in the face of our nations destruction by a tyrannical banker controlled gov't spilling American blood for oil and money on foreign shores and propagandizing it as patriotism.

I've been there!

The banker cabal we call our gov't is no more ours than the federal reserve bankers that support them!

I'll take secession over civil war or revolution anyday to save American lives and restore pride, sanity, and independence to our great nation.

Study and learn before we fly the UN flag over our shores instead of Old Glory!

Sanford Levinson, a professor at the University of Texas School of Law, said within the Texas Constitution, the U.S. Constitution and the Joint Resolution Annexing Texas to the United States of 1845, there is no explicit right for the state to return to its days as a Republic. Levinson said there is "no possibility whatsoever that the United States or any court would recognize a 'right' to secede."

Levinson noted that the 1845 resolution allows for Texas to break into five new states, and it doesn’t specify whether that would require congressional approval. But, he said, that's distinct from secession.

Once the founders United these states into this federal union, they became part of the federal union. Their independence is limited.

Secession is not legal since the land belongs to the feds. The boundaries of this country were set. That ended the states being their own little territories with their own little posses. Except Arpaio...lol with his stupid butt.

So the secessors can denounce their citizenship and leave. But they can't take the land they sit on.

You need a history lesson, sadly, I'm not the one to give it in depth, but I wish I was.

You are so totally wrong it is laughable!

So now, when like in the election, the secessors get set down and schooled about not being able to take a state out of the United States and call it their own, what do they cry?

Socialism?slaphead
Communism?slaphead
Anti Americanism?slaphead

What other crap will it be?

A conspiracy by aliens to stop them from commandeering land that isn't theirs because the aliens want it for themselves?

What?whoa
