Topic: What have you done lately? | |

I finished up my last obligation for volunteering for the year and I am thinking maybe taking a year, maybe more, off. It is draining me. The need is endless but my strength is not.
I also am relieved that some of the relationships that I kept alive because of my Parents, now passed, I can let go as more misery than they are worth. I don't know if I will get rid of my stuff or not. Everyone keeps telling me it would make "my" life simplier but the truth is it makes their life easier because they don't want to have to bother to clean anything up when I am gone. I actually enjoy my things and don't see why I have to make my passing easy and comfortable for anyone but me. |

I could never delete my fb, I am adopted and most of my fb peeps are long lost relatives, a lot of whom I have yet to meet in person. It is our only communication thus far since I am not yet Courageous enough to speak to them on the phone or in person. I have stopped eating out, stopped going places as much and enjoying time at home doing nothing but spending time with my kids. I have stopped going online a lot more and have simplified my eating habits. I have abandoned most of my online activity and texting and phone calls. Just enjoying time alone.basically cutting a lot of activities out of my life.

I have reunited with lots of old high school and military friends; not to mention its a great way to invite people to social events. Its also a good way to see how your friends are doing as I don't always have time to pick up the phone to call; so this way I can check up on them and then know when I should pick up the phone to call. |

Oh; I can so relate to the volunteering being draining but I find it so darn rewarding that I can't seem to pull myself away from it. Yep; I am my own worst enemy. |

I'm getting rid of most everything! (Items that belonged to my husband and sons and things that I don't really need.)...My younger son had all of my first husband's possessions so I'm sorting through his things too. (He died of cancer too when he was 51.) Everyone died and it's just me now...I'm going to donate most things to a local (charity) thrift store...My friend has a "used store" and I'm going to sell a few "special items" to her...At first it was sad to go through all the boxes. But now I'm on a "mission" and I feel a little better about letting things "go" to new "homes." Can't keep everything forever.

What's the most recent thing you've done to simplify your life or to bring more peace into your life? Getting rid of things, people, materials, old memories I don't need anymore. Talking with people who really care about what I have to say. Planning something exciting for the holidays. Facebook is long overdue to delete. I had plans to get rid of it recently but people from school/work have added me. One in particular added me some weeks ago that I'd gotten to know. Its sort of a cycle I am attempting to get a firm grasp on. |

I closed my rarely used FB account months ago and have never looked back. In fact it annoys me when companies say 'like us on FB Twitter etc' in order to get special promotions/pricing. What if I have been a loyal customer for years but can't get the discount because I don't choose to have a FB account. I take my money and my loyalty elsewhere, do any of the folks making decisions at these companies think about all the business they are losing because of FB, Twitter etc?
I always feel better when I tackle clutter, the bigger the pile for Good Will the better I feel. |
