Any opinions? |

huh? That is almost throwing salt on a wound.
I am talking about Thomas Paine, Americas Unsung Patriot. |
no responses. let's rock!!!!

T. Paine is overrated. Now, about Warren Buffet... |
Huh? What kind of tangent is this?
I like Warren Buffet. He is very charitable |
It not an economically sound tangent, for sure. But so what? Since when were JSH message forums logical? Berkshire stock is overrated. |
I have not followed stocks in awhile. I have had Ecolab for years, and am happy with them.
Ecolab. Hmmm... You need to diversify. |

I have a Roth IRA that is tied up in mutual funds. Thanks for the tip
Just a roth? Do you have 3-6 (or more) months in liquid savings? And a company matching 401k? Oh wait. You probably have one of those education fund thingies, right? |
Roth IRA. It is funded solely by my poor ass. I am a perpetual grad student. I probably won't get my first real job until my early 30's
Paine is not overrated. As James Monroe said, "Washington's sword would have been weilded in vain had it not been for the pen of Paine" |
Who said this? "Society is produced by our wants and government by our wickedness. " |
Paine. Does that quote come from Common Sense?
Wow - you really DO love Paine!
I think so...not sure. |
He is the man! Without him this country would have been founded on a different set of principles. He has such a strong character and never comprised it, like many hypocritical politicians and others. That is one of the reasons Paine is not remembered as a Fouding Father and a true American Patriot.
I agree. T. Paine did contribute a lot to the foundation of our economic system.
What your opinion of John Maynard Keynes? |
That is a tough question. Like any Macroeconomic school of thought, I cheery picked certain ideas.
I like Keynes and he was certainly a character. He brought a lot of revolutionary ideas to the table during the Great Depression era and his is book Theory of...Money. |
Yup. I "flipflop" on my feelings about him.
Good quote on short-run policy: "In the long-run we are all dead" Did you read "Economic Consequences of the Peace"? |
Clever "flipflip"
The evolution of macroeconomics is fascinating and Keynes was the impetus. I have not read any of Keynes works. Have you? |
