Obama Wants to Cut $12.9 Billion from Troops

Liberals defend the health care of teachers, unions, and illegal immigrants. But when it comes to the troops, they want to cut.

A proposal by the Obama administration would save $12.9 Billion by 2017 from the Tricare system.

The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon's $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.

"We shouldn't ask our military to pay our bills when we aren't willing to impose a similar hardship on the rest of the population," Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a Republican from California, said in a statement to the Washington Free Beacon. "We can't keep asking those who have given so much to give that much more."

For those of us that served our country honorably for 20 years + this is a slap in the face, especially for those of us over 65 that are on Tricare for Life (TLF). He's looking in the wrong place for cuts in the budget he'd better look more to the social programs the govt funds internally and externally that don't contribute to our society. For all the military personnel and families out there it is time to stick together and vote this clown out of office this November. We are a band of brothers and sisters that numbers in the millions and can have a great effect on this years elections. If we are not careful of what this clown is doing to our country we will find ourselves a third world country in the next few years as China will become the next World Economic Powerhouse that we will surely relinquish and relegate ourselves to become subservient to them and the rest of the world.

It's great for our troops (who willingly put their lives on the line for all of us) to pay for their healthcare, even though the Pres(never served) & congress do not pay for theirs. That sounds like a liberal way to handle things!

Military is a joke? I'd ask ya to say it to someones face who fought in combat, but all I see is big hat and no cattle!

Whenever I meet anyone in or has been the military, I thank them. When I hear a parent talk about their child being in the military, I thank them too.

The US military should get the best medical care this world has to offer. Illegals should get deported.

Its unfortunate that you feel that way sir. But I fail to see the joke. Maybe if you were in combat, you would have a different outlook. I left some of the finest men iv ever known in Iraq. I doubt that seeing a buddies head roll by your feet could be construed as a joke. Or fighting unseen enemies, or fighting in 105 degree heat with 80lbs of equiptment. Or tasteing the guts of your buddy land in your mouth. Or the smell of cordite mixed with blood. The joke is not the military, but the cowardly politicians and their corporate interests that profit from war by telling the American people one thing, while the truth stays dorment. The joke is the Department of Defence who in harmony with media, corporate bigwigs, the Pentegon, and politicians are the true joke. Finally the clueless public who but the hype. The foundation of national defense is it's troops. They don't make w lot at what they do. That's why they have great health care benis. To take away those few benis will wear at the morale of the already over stressed troops.
Poor morale and a gov that wants to strip them of the basics they work for is so not right.
I would feel as if I was being hunted down by the enemy and my so-called allies in DC.
Call your Reps and demand they look elsewhere to make cuts.
Don't allow them to weaken our National Defense by f**ckin' with our troops. Don't allow them to take away the benefits the vets earned.
Doesn't matter which MSM sold president is in office, if they screw with the troops or vets, they need to be set straight or run out.

I predicted, from watching 2016, that one of the programs to disable the US would be to cut defense spending.

Well, here's the proof. Never just became the present.

Cutting the tricare is cutting National Defense.

It affects active Military and vets.

Those Vietnam Vets depend on it to keep them alive. It helps pay for med that slow down the damage Agent Orange does. Cut that and they will die a lot sooner.

Vietnam Era vets will suffer.

Iraq Vets and Iraq Era Vets will suffer.

Afghan Vets will suffer.

I believe they count a whole lot more than the Illegals, refugees and the lazy the Tax Payers are supporting.

im under the impression income tax is based upon income, meaning whoever has earned income (even government supplied) pays taxes based upon their earnings

not all military pay income tax because not all earn enough to qualify

thats the same 'hardship' applied to the rest of the population

This topic is about Barry attacking and wanting to undermine our National Security by cutting care to those who earned it.

when you find yourself in debt , that is growing

two things must happen

one is INCREASE REVRENUE (taxes)
two is CUT SPENDING (programs, departments)

people will GRIPE whenever they fall in the effected group,, I predicted that early on


cuts HAVE to be made, and/or taxes have to be increased

thats the math

and whomever gets their taxes raised will blame Obama
and whomever gets their program/benefits reduced will blame him Too

the math still has to be done and someone still has to make those tough decisions

on the balance side though,, congress still gets the final say,,,

personally, I would want to see a combination of 'reduction' but not elimination of the funding we put into many of our programs

combined

with an across the board tax increase (Because the wealthy will feel discriminated against if we dont make everyone pay more, but we need more revenue from somewhere)

Cut programs to the lazy and Illegals.

That would save trillions.
