Topic: Show us what you do! | |

I'm no expert, but I don't think those are really pictures of you. Not pictures of me of course. Those are real pictures of my work environments! Those are representative photos of other people doing the stuff I have done and still do. I still teach tennis, still go to the lab, still calculate, still invest, invent and startup. I don't drive the forklift anymore...but I can still drive one and am not bad driving backwards uphill and never drop valuables while parallel parking like a beast... Fair enough. |

I am working for a telecommunications company on a big migration project, dealing with orders from sales teams. No picture to show, as I work at home and no one needs to see a picture of a computer. I love it when people post pics of them in different environments and work is where we all spend such a huge amount of our time. It's helps in getting to know others to see what their lives are like. Sure, we all like to talk and post about the fun stuff, but if you are going to be with someone it's good to know what the other 90% of their life is like. Even if you're just looking for friends like many of us are, I want to know my friends better. |

I talk at work. Talk and write. I'm a bit hesitant about posting too much of what I do because I've been slammed so many times here this year for being in the law enforcement field, but basically I teach all things crime prevention related. I teach neighborhood watch, Identity Theft workshops, home security, child safety, internet safety, emergency preparedness, personal security at home and in the workplace and a zillion "other duties as assigned" (my boss's favorite line from my job description)
So, here I am. Talking. |

Building and fixing a new trail for hikers. As a hiker I would like to say "thank you"! I always wondered how those trails got there. |

Lol
Well I use to chase money as a remodeling contractor and then ran other people's companies and then landed a job with an international restoration company making money when description hit. I was in cedar rapids in 2008 putting the city back together after there record floods when my Spode back home made some bad choices. So when my world changed, I found a job maintaining buildings for their senior low income housing ministry. I have 160 at need senior citizens I get to interact with everyday. Most rewarding job I've had. I have photos to share Ruth. I looked. |

I forgot that one...I do presentations for them at the senior low income housing and at the Senior Center here run by the city. They crack me up (although those old guys can be a bit "grabby" with their hands if I get too close) |

I f****** clean houses, doesn't even pay s*** either. I've done that before, too. It's a very hard job. Hard physically and, yes, it pays poorly. I'm naturally one of those strange people who like to clean so it wasn't as bad for me. But, the reality is, I enjoy cleaning my own house much more than I could ever enjoy just cleaning up after others. Hang in there. It's a start and in this economy jobs are really hard to come by. |

Part of my work was Biohazard clean up for the sheriffs office. :-/. So I have no problem with you being in law enforcement. But all I was thinking was, hmmm does she have handcuffs? |

Lol. That's was spouse. iPhones don't do well here. I have an iPhone too and sometimes those auto-corrects can be downright embarrassing. |

Someone who doesn't hate law enforcement. I get it though. I don't much care for police officers either and many of them (the majority) are egomaniacs who abuse their power to no end. I refuse to date even the good ones. However, I am proud of my former career as a police officer and I loved being in a position to actually help people. So, it stings when I get attacked for it. Anyway, YOU have a lot of interesting job/life experiences! |

Anyway, YOU have a lot of interesting job/life experiences! There is the a type personality issue to deal with but like with most of my police friends, I feel There frustration with why they became officers and what they ended up having to do. Maybe you have never had to be the revenue collector writing tickets for the quota instead of the intent of the correction of the offender. Like any job, it eats you up when you violate your own values to keep it. Most people don't see that part when they get the ticket. |

We didn't have quotas when I was LAPD. But I'm sure some departments do. And, yes, I am very aware of the psychological issues that come about from being a cop. There are coping mechanisms that have to be developed in order to deal with what you see and deal with day after day. Some cops deal with it better than others. There's so many factors involved in how a cop acts I could write a book on it.
Nonetheless, whatever the reasons are, they are not people (generally speaking) I like to be around. |
