Topic: Still Shakeing | |

Thanks everyone who posted. The support helps a lot.
I have spent part of today increaseing the security and part of it having lunch with a friend out of the house/neighborhood but didn't go to Gold Rush Days which I had been looking forward to. Did cook supper for myself and another friend who fell and was pretty severly injured a week ago. Since I was not hurt physically I'm trying to count my blessings. Keep you all in my prayers as I hope you will me. |

I can't imagine how something like that would make you feel, but I do hope that you can feel safe in your own home again very soon. I'm glad things turned out the way they did, if could have been much worse. The Lord was looking out for you that day for sure.

Yes I believe so Totage.
Talked to the District Attorney and because the "Accused" has more rights than I do they can not even tell me basic questions. Doesn't seem right. Hopefully it won't just "go away" in the system with overcrowding or plea bargaining. Things are secured and anyone that comes through my door uninvited now is going to be very unhappy. |

That's good to hear. Hopefully they get what they deserve and can't weasel out of it. But keep in mind, in the end they will answer for their wrong doings, whether we get to see it or not.
Stay strong! |

I am glad everything turned out good for you and you are safe.

I am not sure where to put this. Still shakeing but thought I would share that I woke up this morning to look out my bedroom door to see two men standing in my living room starting to burglerize my house. Maybe with no car on my driveway they thought they were in an empty house. Who knows. Usually I do go for early morning coffee. Thankfully didn't walk back in on them. Evidently they came in the back garden slider as that is how they went out. Luckily I took my bedside phone, slipped around the bed, shut my bedroom door, then locked myself also in the bathroom. and called 911. While it seemed like hours it was just minutes they had my house surrounded by half a dozen cop cars, me questioned by officers while they ran down what looks to be both people. Two are under arrest. Hopefully they won't be able to post bail. I identified one and they said I still described the other so well that when they spotted him and attempted to stop him he started running and fell showing where he evidently fell off my wheel chair lift and scrapped up his shins when they heard the 911 operator asking me all kinds of questions even though they were only feet away. CSI investigators came out with in an hour and finger printed all over. Will say they were really nice about it so far. Landlord sent the maintenence man over to fix my door. Evidently the only thing they were able to take before they heard someone in the house was my asthma medication so out some serious bucks there but not like I have anything that great to steal other wise. Guess they were not interested in my cheapo laptop or didn't have enough time to grab it. Looked in the refrigerator so guess they were hoping to find more medication or who knows what. Cop laughed "Boy did they pick the wrong person to rob! " I actually told them enough that they knew who to nab and both were carrying stolen property and burglery tools in a backpack. I am still shakeing like a leaf. Guess I really will be sleeping with one eye open from now on. I just saw this, glad you are okay! |

I am glad you are ok also. Guns are the best protection but they are not for everyone. Talking about pointing a gun at someone is much different than actually doing it. However, when you life is in danger, theirs should be in danger too. The shotgun is a good idea.

Sorry to hear about this. I do have a security system in my house; bars on my basement windows, double locks on all my windows and patio doors; as well as break down bar on my front door. I also keep a baseball bat beside my bed and still have my police handcuffs in case I have to restrain them. Someone did attempt to break into my house and the alarm system alerted the police. Nothing was taken and I felt very comfortable sleeping that night. It costs me $32.00 monthly for the monitoring but its well worth the money spent for peace of mind.

I am so glad you had your phone with you and were able to lock yourself in the bathroom and call for help. Thank goodness you are safe and did not get hurt. I have always had a dog, probably partly because of this, they make noise. Even a small dog, and I think, at least, people will choose a quiet house to break into. Also, I like dogs and they are good company. Again, I truly grateful, you are safe and I hope they get some serious jail time.
Take care of yourself. |
