I must say, London is one funky city. Although quite expensive, I thought it was a great place to visit. But people id highly recommend using the underground system, very efficient, clean and convinient. They cover most of london. Driving is a nightmare. Overall, a pretty good experience. Also, their they seem to take more pride in their train systems. As a native New Yorker, New Yorks subways pale in comparison to the London tubes. Our system is in desperate need of upgrading.

I LOVED using the underground in London.
Color co-ordinated, it is practically idiot
proof, a good thing for tourists.

Wonderful shops to explore, access to
every out-of-the-way destination makes
you want to wander about.

Only complaint I ever had was the abysmal
food, seemed to me they freaking boiled
everything, ugh.

But everything else about England fully
compensated for that, oh and they had
really decent pastry, to go with their
room-temperature drinks :-)

Wow! I totally agree. I forgot to mention the food. But to be fair to the Brits who have always had a bad reputation for their bland food. There has been a new emphasis on reversing the bad food reputation. Mainly the newer upscale places offer international cusine, native food like logs and madh are now being inproved as London has become a premier location for tourists. I prefer warm weather myself, but in terms of nort

When visiting Europe, I would advise placing
England last on the trip.
They speak English, after a fashion, that you
can at least grasp meanings, everywhere else
they treat us like the idiots we are, with barely
concealed contempt for not understanding them.

This does not stop them fom raking in the tourist
dollars, but one gets the feeling, were it not for that,
they would make short-shrift of tourists.

England is plain fun, awe, a feeling of history
and..freedom. Avoid the 'scouse'!!! hahaha

Me and my ever-the-tourist gran stayed in a hotel near the Queen's home. We watched the changing of gaurds. Just recently we went to the Opening Ceremony of the olympics 2012. Not looking so forward to the closing ceremony, as I'm really enjoying all the sports events. Especially swimming. I don't want it to end. sad

I love England, but heard that life there is very expensive.
