Hi, I just read something in another post that made me wonder if the regional differences in dating are really that great. Is dating in the south different from dating in lets say California or New York?
I get that the USA is pretty large and in a way it does make sense to me that their would be differences. Guys from Italy are certainly very different from Scandinavian guys.

Also, how has dating changed as you got older?

I'm interested in your perspectives.

Well the regional differences exist as I am Texan who lived in CA for a few years. But it didn't bother me as I just went with the flow on what to do on dates, as long as it is fun.

Dating becomes more difficult as I have aged. I am NOT old, just mature, sort of. You have to find someone you can put up with....

I travel a bit and I see differences. Some are subtle and some are wacky.

Age range seems to be much a broader in some areas than others. I have women below a certain age showing interest while on the the road that would be pretty rare in LA. Not to mention my daughter would shoot me(there's some formula I agreed to E2/ab+7yrs x $/4 or something like that. Oh and no teachershuh ).

I have noticed that what is required to be a "good catch" varies dramatically based on stories from women. Like one of my friends says that her and her friends hate guys that expect them to pay for their car and rent!! Pick one or the other???? Oh and then there's statements like "oh he's a good guy, he never hits her in the head"<<-- I thought I was being bull-shitted on that one. An there's the good old "he/she never cheats around home like those other bastards".. that one got me too.

Unless ya live in Ga....or Ky.....

It's all too complicated for me.

I'll just stick to Ladies my own age near me!!!!

I saw some serious differences in the between Texas and California, but hopefully things have improved since then. Haven't been back to either place to check.

I dont know if there are regional dating differences other than as far as regional 'culture' and traditional gender roles may affect it

in terms of as Ive gotten older, it seems people are much more focused on the sex of it well after they are grown (used to be more of a teenager thing and a boy thing) than they are the 'relationship' part,,,

girls are more and more like boys in their lack of discretion, as one lady put it ' i believe the animal kingom has more discretion than we now have, when it comes to sexual partners'

and I am much more interested in the 'relationship' than the sex,,,,
as well as realizing the romantic/butterflies/chemistry type of 'love' is a fleeting feeling that I would not latch onto again without compatibility and friendship being well founded first....

If you are fun then everywhere is where the party's at.

I have no age limits and no restrictions on location or culture.
I have enjoyed meeting a very wide variety of people from all
over the world and am naturally very adventurous and open minded.
Have dated older and younger.

Over the years I have found it just amazingly shocking how many
truly great kind wonderful people are out there.

Everyone wants to laugh and have fun and be excited and learn
things. Everyone loves to make a special connection with someone
else. Happens all the time. Just the way we spice our food is
different and our accents are silly that's all.

laugh

I think that the regional differences would be more where you grew up, I grew up in the bush, so to me anyone who grew up in the city seems very different.

They seem to be in more of a hurry, and a little more impatient.

Here if I want a new car that isnt on the car lot. it can take up to 5 months to get it delivered, if I want a new piece of furniture it can take 3 months,

Thats the main differences I have noticed.

But most bush people I meet no matter how far away from me, seem the same.
