So, would you like seeing 9 year olds forced to marry old men?

no, but I can see our ages reduced from where they currently are based upon contractual law and the rewriting of marital definitions and marital purpose.

I can see a time when parents can consent to 'marry off' children as young as 13, but not as young as 9, unless our basic biological processes keep changing with the environment and pubert starts to onset at earlier ages.

from that parental authority, I can also see 'forcing' a marriage as slowly entering our culture. although the consequence for disobedience wont be the severe consequences held in some muslim cultures.
what "Biological"Processes?
Jeepers Creepers!slaphead
A Child is a Child,no matter what some Religious Nut is trying to tell us!
It is becoming high time to hold People who immigrate into western Countries by our Standards, not changing ours to theirs!mad
Pedophilia is Pedophilia, and being sanctioned by some Imam or other Cleric doesn't change a thing!

   And since when did menstruation become tied to level of emotional maturity, mental health, and morality?noway ...I must of missed that one....slaphead

The only way forced marriage will "enter" American culture is if America ceases to be a free country...whoa

its irrelevant really

since emotional maturity, nor morality, are legal requirements for marriage or legally measurable standards

I have known plenty of married couples when I was younger who were legally married and emotionally immature with awful morals

those judgments have no 'legal' relevance to marriage

which only involves the laws aknowledgement of consent to share 'assets' and privileges......and, leaning toward, a complete unwillingness/inability to even AKNOWLEDGE or CONSIDER the sexual element of that agreement,,,,

Today's Laws take cognizance of all those Factors you have mentioned!
So,are you for or against the Sharia-Marriages,which basically treat women as disposable Chattel?

show me where in the marital laws it requires 'morality' or 'emotional maturity'?

I am against any marriage not between a man and woman both old enough to have left home and taken care of themself

that means, in cases of EMANCIPATION, someone deemed able to look after themself, marriage should be permitted

in case of the school aged child who is still the 'legal responsibility' of their parent, marriage should not be permitted

as far as being treated like 'chattel', everybody has their own thing,,,many western women enjoy being treated like ,,lets say,,, anything but a lady and thats their perogative if they are grown,,,

Yeah. Like a 9 year old can fend for themselves.
Sold to a man isn't as if the child has a choice.
Wonder how they put the value?
Weight, height, good teeth?
Still say they and those wo agree it's a good thing are in dire need of feeling what it's really like to be owned.
Just a thought. Who would condemn slavery and then turn around and embrace it?

A girl of age 14 can legally get married and have children already with the consent of her parents so what is the point of any new laws?

I knew a woman who was married when she was 14 and by the time she was 38 years old, she had 8 children.

Under the age of 10....? that's not going to happen here I hope. But they will do it anyway, secretly.
