I agree. Calling someone a "slut" is harsh. I have tattoos. I know some people think they are slutty. I am lucky in that my boyfriend has more tattoos than me. Calling someone's daughter a potential slut.....well, it's best no one calls anyone I love a "slut" because there would be heck to pay.

BUT FROM MY PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE CHEAPNESS IS CHEAPNESS! First of all piercing in general is kind of marring or vandalizing perfection. But when I evaluate from past experience women I have met and known over time how you treat yourself speaks volumes to me. And if you got to "Bling" youself up like that you have LOW self esteem. Again I am not a person who is that into image as much as a balance between what you do with what god and your mother gave you and who you are as a person. Some people feel comfort in covering their bodies with tatoos. Others love to pierce the crap out of themselves. And a lot of it is sexual. try to argue that with me. Prince Albert? Nipple Piercings? Oh and those piercings in the cheeks are real sexy too, NOT! Now for the whole SLUT ISSUE!!!

I would be pissed if my daughters were just giving it up for free. I would be dissapointed if theuy were indeed selling it. There is a difference between being a free spirit and a slut. Again presentation is everything. Don't like it? Well, be glad I am not your daddy. i have tattoos and i have 5 piercing in each ear, I dont even wear earrings anymore I have a monroe piercing, i have had a tongue piercing and i loved it. I dont think its a big deal. If my kids wanted a piercing or tattoo i would be fine with it. It boils down to character. Do you trust your child? The good thing about a tongue piercing is there is no scar when they come to their senses. Is your child a promiscuous one? It depends on why they want it. I would allow my child to get one if they were old enough. I think choosing your battles is half the battle and giving them trust and a lil freedom is worth more to them. Dont sweat the small stuff. Better a tongue piercing than a heroin addiction. I wouldnt worry about it. It is a phase and eventually she will take it out. Let her. She is discovering herself.

You stated a thought that sent shivers down my back. Even meth is a BAD problem and not a lot of parents are prepared for the realities of dealing with someone with a drug addiction! The probelm is that asking people for an opiioon is dangerous because we all have our own. More often than not what I believe someone else doesn't.

Like I had complained, where do you draw a line? I know with teenagers there is a give and take but where is the balance?

I just can't seem to get that part right! Finding the balance... I guess it is different from situation from situation...

And what we do to ourselves as adults is one thing. I do agree though that in a situation like yours you would be a hypocrit if you said no. But I have no tats or piercings so that would be my perspective. But likewise a proper home is about two people sharing responsibility so if my other half says otherwise and we can come to a concensus about the issue even with my disaproval of a piercing I would let it slide with the proper presentation of an argument for. Who says in time I don't have kids with a woman who has a tat or ten or one or seven piercings. Life is so effked up we can draw a line and it rubs it out and spits in our eye over it.

On top of that I was a VERY WOUND UP CHILD! I remember what I did. And to think what my children would be capable of doing.
