On your deathbed, looking back at your life, do you want to have regrets? What would define a successful life as? Hopefully, if I get there it's due to cancer and I'm so high I could careless. TY :) |

On your deathbed, looking back at your life, do you want to have regrets? What would define a successful life as? I've regretted not seizing the moment but I wouldn't change it. The "ripple effect" (butterfly effect?) would destroy what I have now. A successful life is watching my kids stand on their own with confidence that I taught them how. I think it is too late to find a woman who would love me. |

LOL Well I have been told most of my life not to plan to have a life. Yet I have.
So no on the regrets. I would define a successful life for me getting to the end on my terms. I would personally like my death bed to be my own bed, in my own home, having nobody make my decisions but me. |

Oldhippie. Quit the self doubt and get out the aftershave, you are not dead yet man! NO self doubt. Just facts and the way things are. *sigh* To one Oldhippie from another oldhippie. (Though to be honest I'm more happy than hippie with Jesus as Lord) Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Make your request known to God, believe He has heard you, and get out there and seek and you will find. In the meantime, give thanks to God for the life that you now have as a single man. Be seeking first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and your faith will change the facts! Peace to you in Jesus Name. |

I don't regret anything I've done. I feel that it was all justified by circumstances.
However, there are a number of things I regret NOT doing. |

Oscar Wilde last words: "This wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One of us has to go" This is funny. Very true, in an existentialist way. In the Hungarian culture we have a number of very funny sayings about wallpaper, too. ---------- Edit: why I found this funny. Not that there would be an actual duel. In the script or story, as well as in real life, the wallpaper could easily be removed, relatively. It is instead a duel or fight which involves no action... it is a duel on the existentialist level, in which telepathic will is the only weapon allowed to be used. And if seen from that angle, one can see the impotence of man against and inanimate object, which will win the fight very predictably. The fun part is that the wallpaper has no will, no mind, no telepathia, yet the outcome is precisely the same as if it had, and furthermore, it is only possible to be so because its mind, will, and telepathy were superior to that of Oscar. |

Oldhippie. Quit the self doubt and get out the aftershave, you are not dead yet man! why would he need the aftershave if he is not dead? Ever smelled up-close a dead man? Carrying him out of a house fire, or when dancing with him. "Memories of Sorrento" is a good dance song for that. |

I realized not so long ago (maybe two years back, maximum three) that people live their lives, as if the life goal was 'not to look stupid'. This is in the conventional sense of the word stupid, both literal (low iq) and figurative (fool, having been made a fool of, choosing to make a wrong decision.)
I realize this is not the goal, per se, but if you examine any and all of a human's endeavours and earthly toils, this maxim "trying to go though life without looking stuppid" fits the life like a glove. A perfect match. I could give examples. But I won't spoon feed you this time. I will, instead, ask you to examine a situation in your life in which you had to make a choice... and then ask yourself, "given the chances at the time, was my effort in trying to find the best solution or outcome to a situaion, copmarable or not to try to avoid looking stupid?" Okay, one example. Hitler looked pretty smart for a while, to himself. While the going was good for him, he kept on doing the things he always did, except harder and more than the previous day. When it was clear he lost the war, and his ideals had been defeated and they would be reversed in an instant all over the world, and he was in his bunker deep below the surface of Berlin in April or May of 1945.... he realized that he was actually made to look stupid. His entire life was now viewed as stupid. He had to rectify it, he had to somehow un-stupid himself. So he committed suicide. The act of his suicide was not triggered by pain like for normal poeople, emotional or physical pain. He was disappointed, and his pain stemmed from seeing by himself that he was made to look stupid. So he took his own life, for his lookign stupid was so unbearable to him. He could have tried to escape the country, to live in South America or in Canada, and make a go at an attempted escape. He did not know, he couldn't have known that the Israeli intelligence would track him down and bring him to justice. He had no way of predicting that. Therefore fear of getting caught was not the reason he chose to commit suicide over escaping the location, in his rejecting the notion or plan of physical escape. Hitler's own suicide was not and attempt to escape probable and imminent pain if falling into enemy hands. If that were his aim, he would have escaped to South America or Canada. He was instead, and to me for sure, escaping the fact he was made to look stupid. He knew that there would never be a way while alive to escape that image of his being made to look stupid, no matter which part of the world he would escaped to and hide in. That is exactly why he chose to kill himself, because suicide was his only escape route from seeing himself as made to look stupid. |

What would define a successful life as?
Me scoring with all of the Mingle2 hotties (females of course). Well, I can dream, can't I? Actually, no, you can't. We forbid you. Your dreams have the risk of making reality horrible when the dream is broadcast. We have to protect our society and our young, you understand. ;-" |

What would define a successful life as? Accomplishing my dreams. Which I am well on my way to doing. Hopefully finding that one soul to accompany me along for the ride. Hopefully I will not have an anvil fall on me between now and then. |

Like the song; " regrets i've got a few, but then again NOT really many". Like the title: " I DID IT MY WAY"
I have always done what I thought best & knowing the same facts now, would prob. repeat it ALL. |

Couple times I wished I would have known some stuff I didn't but still don't think it would have changed much radically. I do kind of feel sorry for anyone who looks back over their life and can't say this because that must be a tough feeling. Kind of like getting cut twice. First when you sold yourself out had to feel pretty rotten and then to have to kick yourself for it later that has got to be a drag. |

Have you ever been near death? Considering the "time bomb" setting in my brain that is just about every minute of every day. The real shock was being dead and being revived. Now not afraid of dying no more. |

On your deathbed, looking back at your life, do you want to have regrets? What would define a successful life as? I can think of nothing worse than leaving loose ends untied. Tis a measure of a persons integrity to have left nothing unsaid or left for others to figure out and clean up. Wellllllll....to me anyway. |
