Topic: New members' welcome | |
---|---|
'Just wondering why several new members are shown hospitality more than the others. Is it because of the way they express themselves, their looks or something else?
There's this poor guy who probably joined with all the excitement and so perhaps out of curiousity he wrote "any single hot ladies, hit me up"(these aren't the exact words though), and no one responded for sometime & later only one person welcomed him. I'm thinking, he's like, "just one post and yet those that joined after me have over 15 welcome posts, certainly something is wrong with me" |

Apparantly it is the moderators job. Many people are not good at hospitality & many just dont care.I have also seen people criticized for their greeting. Sad! Also not many actually see the big picture, nor care to, that is their choice :-)

I try to greet all the newbies- I remember when I joined oh so many years ago- I try to make sure that everyone feels like they belong but I do miss some.
I dont think that its intentional that some people dont have any replies to their posts. We have lives and are not on here constantly. But maybe thats just me. |

Also not many actually see the big picture, nor care to, that is their choice :-) No, it is not their job. It is for anyone who cares to take the time to Welcome someone new. Sometimes, they enjoin when there are a lot of people around, who make the extra effort to Welcome them. Other times, there might be 2 dozen 'I'm New!' threads popping up simultaneously and the Welcome's are a wee scarcer. Thankfully there are people like kartagane, laughsandgiggles, Tazzops, and 2KidsMom who and a few others who try to make everyone feel welcomed. But it is all happenstance, no one's job and just a nice thing to do for others. |

I honestly believe that its the topic that some people steer away from they see that maybe all this person wants is sex or relationship and they may not want to send the wrong message. it is a sad excuse to use but like certain people since I have come back I try to make them feel welcome and if they seek my advice I will offer it to the best of my ability.

I greet everyone if I am around. I don't care who you are. If you really pay attention you'll see who gets the most welcomes, and you will see certain trends involving certain members and certain types of potential members, but that is the same on any online forum site.
As for how I greet them, If you write something dumb or laughable, I will have fun with you. Some greetings are obnoxious, and I respond equally in kind, but still welcome them... and sometimes they just don't give me whole lot more to say than welcome. Thus for me personally it varies. I truly believe though for the majority of posters, they expect to drop a quick "Hello, HMU!" and the messages from the requested gender will just come pouring in. And for some of those new posters, it may very well be true. Of course most of them probably don't get the results they expect, and just leave. |

And that's not us, this is Mingle. But it is possible it's my inner, deeply rooted ignorance that compels me to sarc. WTH is "HMU"? Anything to do with enslaved illegal alien farm labourers? |

A certain clock-like quality that you can depend on. Wisdom by the minute. I want to own my own owl. As god is my witness, I still don't know what HMU means. Or was that MHU. I am sincere here. Please help me. |
