some people just find it too hard to hang out with old friends when they stop using. if you are one of these people there is a list of AA meetings on the internet. you will find many sober people at these meetings and most of them organize activities and functions to help the members get to know each other and socialize. good luck to you.

Holy crap! I'm not thinking I like this new "delete" thing that is going on. Pity?? What the heck.....This guy is just telling it like it goes for so many. Are we not to talk about our lives or ourselves anymore? Unless we talk dirty or pretend like everything is all rosey?
Or talk about absolute crap? Recovery is a serious issue with many of us. Talking about it helps. He merely wants recognition for his hard work and to know that he is trying to be good. And to make people understand that when someone is trying for recovery, that real friends will not act like this.

I say good for you. It is very hard to stay clean with friends that don't care or understand your problem. I had to change my friends and playgrounds in order to get sober and get help. My true friends were there for me. So will yours.

By the way. I don't know how this thing works. So if I have a vote; I vote keep it up. If someone doesn't want to read it; then leave the page. It's really simple enough.

stevil: your sobriety forces others to evaluate themselves and that is threatening to some who may have a problem as well. You continue to do the next right thing and take it one day at a time. WooooHooooo for you! I'M PROUD OF YOU!! flowerforyou flowerforyou

keep up the good work and as for your friends they aren't truly your friends if they want to get you to drink. but i think you can do it even though i don't know you but just be strong stay away from temptation. Good luck

at least you recognize your limitations about placing yourself in a destructive position stevil. sounds like you are aware of yourself and headed in the right direction.

Stevi Congratulations on quitting. Staying quit is going to be hard at first. Some of your friends see you as a threat becuase they think "I drink almost as much as or in some cases more that guy and I don,t have a problem" then it starts to dawn on them and it scares the hell out of them and they are not ready to quit yet so it's easier to encourage you to go back to drinking than face their problem. To stay sober you must find a new set of frieds, you will keep some of the old ones but most of them will keep their distance once they realize you are serious about quitting. Good luck and like one guy told you Check out AA.

Hi sweet. Glad to see you are still hanging in there. Them coffee shops ae a great place for a meeting after a meeting.

I have many years clean now. I had to change so much in my life. It was hard and hurt to lose all those friends that I hung with. Drugs was my thing, mostly. You can do it, both of you. I was as bad as anyone here.flowerforyou flowerforyou

i personally don't recommend AA...it makes absolutely no sense to go hang around people who have addiction problems when you are trying to kick an addiction. maybe try hanging around HEALTHY folks.

get a new bunch of friends. literally. make certain they are healthy and not co-dependent or with an addictive personality.

it's worth it, you know...
