Thanks Carol...but I'm an old hand at this...I always eat something..and take the pills...the patches don't work for me..frankly I think it's all in my head..because the first time I went out I got really sick...lakes don't bother me..but the gulf is just rough all the time..and the smell of the bait bothers me if they use squid...I really do love going salt water fishing, and always catch my share..BUT I cannot drink anything the night before, beer or anything else. I sometimes wonder if my having vertigo isn't part of the problem..but anyway...like my boys say...I'm always good for entertainment out there...(we do have some pretty funny stories about me ) First time it happened to me...I just wanted to die and get it over. My Mom said, as I was finally able to keep my eyes shut without the world spinning, 'look Vivian, there is a ship'..I opened one eye, and said ...I hope the dayum thing runs over us'!! Actually I don't have inter ear problems...my vertigo stem from a whiplash.. I had a man tell me one time, that if I started to get sick...jump in the water..after about 10 minutes, the motion of the water would take over and I would no longer be sick..he called it acclimating..I said yeah, I often thought about drowning myself when I was sea sick..but he was serious, and swore it worked. I've talked to others about it since and they agreed that it would work. It's all about the inner ear. I understand that if you let it run it's course, you will become immune. But if you take drugs you will always be affected. Much of the Navy takes drugs. I don't know anyone that has worked for. When I jumped in the water I usually ended up swallowing a little seawater and it just make me sicker. I usually don't get sick unless I smell someone vomit then the party is over! I sailed to Corpus with an ear patch and had no problems. I don't get sck in the bay...it's only when I go out a hundred miles...but I only get sick going out. I'm fine coming back in. The patches have never worked for me. But the pills do, even if I have to take them every time I go out. But I can not drink beer or any kind of alcahol the night before. Does going topless help?? no, I just get black eyes from all the bouncing I gotta see a demo of that!!! |

I laid my head on a stinky fish-rag wrapped around a chunk of ice chipped out of the cooler and tried not to DIE (but half wished I would!) OMG...it was awful! Karma's a B!#CH |
