Antarctica. Then you wouldn't have to be around people.

Come to Austalia Totage...
Why..
Because we are friendly,
it's warm up top where I am, but cooler down the bottom if you don't like it hot.
We have jobs.
We have freedom.
We talk pretty much like you, some words are different but most of your stuff I understand, just a few wierd words and you all talk sooooo slow and seem to make all your words long.
Hmmm why else,
If you are under 45 and have any qualifications that we need, which there are heaps as we dont have as many qualified workers as we need.

heaps of the mines are looking for workers, I think it's 2 weeks on one week off, they will fly you home a few times a year and pay for your flights in and out of the mines.

But you work in the heat and normally it's around the 100's as most of the mines are in the top end of Australia. I think the mines are around $1000 to $2000 a week depending what you are doing. If you have better skills obviously you are paid better.
The other problem with the mines are you are really isolated, and there is a no drug or alcohol policy for the 2 or 3 weeks straight that you work.

If you are under 30 you can get a working visa pretty easily, I should have checked your age before i wrote this, but anyway its cool.

Anyway if you decide to head out here, come and visit.

I'll look into that. Thanks, I'm currently in school for diesel tech. but I'm only learning about U.S. diesel engines right now. I know they're a little different over there, but it may help to have that exp. here and then learn more over there.

Yeah, weather and climate does effect my depression. I haven't considered humidity, but I suppose that could play a role as well.

So far I've only experienced the east coast and mid west. I like the east coast, but have a feeling I'd enjoy the Gulf or west coast more.

The first town that takes on this realy cool Vibe is Santa Fe NM. It may be too remote for you, so Albuquerque is cool. But for me this is the edge of this fresh positive area. If you head west you will feel it get more and more open (much different feeling from the east). So follow Interstate 25 down to Las Cruses. Then 10 to Tucson and 8 to the coast. From this line up is where the peaceful energy is. North wise Denver and over. For me Vegas is the sweet spot. Not because of gambling or any vices, but because of all the nature, cost of living, great weather and not all that far from the ocean for trips. And Vegas never sleeps which makes it the perfect city if you want to take walks during those restless times.

If I ever go to Vegas, I won't make it out.

I’m a firm believer that weather/climate can affect (and improve) mood but if I was considering a move, I would definitely have to move to someone where there was a noticeable difference in the seasons however, as a suggestion for you, I would say New Zealand.

My sister was there for about a month, a few years ago and she said that the people were much friendlier than in Australia (it was a colour thing) and it's a beautiful country.

Hmm I think that maybe you where in one of the bigger cities as we are so multicultural where I am that it wouldn't matter what colour you are. My childrens best friends are from Spain, africa, indonesia, Taiwan and Australian aboriginal. Also we are more a country town,

So head outback, everyone is friendly there, the cities are just full of people who are too busy and don't have time to get to know you.

Why would you want to move out of the U.S. but not want a change in culture or language? If that's the case why not just move down the block, or to a different state?

SIMILAR doesn't mean the same. It means both cultures share common things, but they are different.

The thing nice about the US is all the cultures. I have lived in Hong Kong, London, Mexico and of course the US. I've traveled over 50 countries and can tell you that you must be the type of person that is extremely open minded if you move somewhere (with the exception of a few) else. You wouldn't think that the cultures would or could get to you but if you are not the right type you could face depression and home sickness like you can not believe. In the US you can live in a completely different culture and still feel very secure like you are home.

If you do decide to make the jump I highly recommend an extended visit first.

Sorry, and I lived in the Bahamas. Knew I forgot one. Getting old!

I envy those that can so easily get on a plane and go somewhere. I just get too nervous flying and I'd be the type that you would read about panicking on a plane and stopping the flight laugh My kids think nothing of it. I see the world through their eyes. I have a son who is fluent in four languages and is working on Italian as he wants to go for dual citizenship there to get into the (EU?). It involves a long process of paperwork going back to his great grandfather on his father's side. He figures it will take a year. But he loves going to Europe and I think eventually would love to end up in Germany as it is his favorite. Totage, just be aware the some cultures are so different that it could a problem with a prospective significant other. You're right to find a place that is comparable to the U.S. Good luck on your venture, it could end up being an adventure of a lifetime. flowerforyou Do your homework on it carefully first:wink:

spent 36years in the Bahamas!
Work-Permits are a Pain in the Butt!
Much easier to move to one of the US-Islands in the Caribbean!
